Box 259 Anchorage, Alaska Re: Proposed Knik Arm Unit State of Alaska ~ Dear Sir: Owing to 'the abandonment of the Knik Arm State No. 1 "Well on August 31, 1963, Union Oil Gompany of California, as Operator of the proposed Knik Arm Unit Agreement, hereby formally withdraws its request for establishment of said Knik Arm Unit. Your prompt granting of preliminary approval, as well as your letter of July 30, 1963, are sincerely appreciated. For purposes of record, we wish to advise that Socony Mobil Oil Company, Marathon Oil Company, Atlantic Refining Company, Phillips Petroleum COmpany, The Superior Oil Company and The British American Oil Producing Company all agreed to execute the Knik Arm Unit and Unit Operating Agreement. At the time the well was abandoned, negotiations had very nearly been successfully con cluded with Pan American Petroleum Corporation. Texaco, Inc. declined to commit its acreage to the proposed unit for the reasons stated in the attached letter of August 16, 1963.
