Drilling & Wells Coiled Tubing Drilling Team Attention: Tom Maunder Petroleum Engineer Subject: Prudhoe DS G-29A CTD Sidetrack Prep Prudhoe Bay producing well G-29 is scheduled for a through-tubing sidetrack to be drilled with coiled tubing. The following summarizes the procedure required to prep G- 29 for drilling and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of this proposed completion is attached. 1. Drift tubing, tag TD. Perform MIT of inner annulus. 2. Install mechanical whipstock at 10750' md. 3. Service CTU pump 13.5 ppg cement below whipstock and lay in above whipstock to 100' above open perfs at 10100'. 4. RU service CTU to drill out cement to whipstock and mill 3.8" window in 4-1/2" slotted liner at 10750'. 5. RU CT drilling and sidetrack well. 6. The sidetrack will be completed with a cemented 3-3/26" x 2 7/8" with the liner top -300' above the perfs at 10100'. The estimated Top of cement is planned for the TOL at -9800'. 7. Perforate appropriate intervals. The well preparation operations may begin by the April 16. CT drilling may begin the sidetrack possibly as early as April 23, 2001 if it is anticipated that the Kuparuk River will break up earlier than typical. Danny T. Drill 17-1/2" hole to 2700' MD and cement 13-3/8" 72# L-80 Buttress casing to surface. The drilling fluid for this section of hole will consist of an 8.5-9.5 ppg spud mud. Install blowout prevention equipment consisting of 5000 psi N.P. pipe rams, blind rams and annular preventer. Maximum possible bottomhole pressure is 4390 psi at 8800' TVDss based on original reservoir pressure. Maximum possible surface pressure is 3300 psi based on a gas column to surface from 8600' TVDss, and an oil column to 8800' TVDss. Directionally drill 12-1/4" hole to the 9-5/8" casing point above the Sadlerochit sandstone. Run 9-5/8" 47// L-80 Buttress casing to within 5' of 12-1/4" TD and cement in two stages- First stage using Class G cement around the 9-5/8" shoe. The second stage to be down-squeezed in the 13-3/8" x 9-5/8" annulus followed by nonfreezing fluid. The drilling fluid for this section of hole will consist of a 9.0-9.7 ppg lignosulfonate mud. Change over mud system to an oi] based system. Directionally drill 8-1/2" hole to TO. Run drill pipe assisted open hole logs. Run 7" liner from 175 ft. below gas oil contact to 250 ft. inside 9-5/8" shoe. Cement while rotating and reciprocating using class G cement. A Polymer cross linked pill will be spotted below the shoe to prevent cement migration into the horizontal part of the wellbore. Clean out to 7" float equipment. Test casing and lap to 3000 psi. Clean out to horizontal TD. Run 4-1/2" slotted liner and hang inside 7" liner. Displace oil based mud with NaCl. Run GR/CBT/CCL in 7" liner. Run internal plastic coated tubing with a sliding sleeve and X nipple. A subsurface safety valve with dual control lines will be placed 50' below the base of the permafrost. Install and test Xmas tree. Displace tubing to diesel through sliding sleeve.
