PLUG-BACK ~UMMARY PROCEDURE
The E-24A Sidetrack is currently scheduled for Doyon Rig #14. The best estimate for the start of
rig work on the well is 2OCT94. Contact the Prudhoe Bay Drilling Representative on Doyon Rig #14
for the most accurate moving schedule update at 659-4510. If there are any questions or if more
information is needed contact J. E. Robertson at 564-5510.
To prepare for the sidetrack, the following actions will need to be taken prior to the rig move:
I .
.
.
.
RU slickline unit. WLIH and pull the lowest gas lift valve at 9,349' md.
Circulate well over to seawater. Freeze protect well with diesel to 2000'.
NOTE: PERFORATIONS WILL BE ABANDONED AT THE SAME TIME AND WITH THE SAME
SLURRY AS THE CEMENT FOR THE KICKOFF PLUG. BEFORE DRILLING OUT
CEMENT TO KICKOFF IT WILL BE NECE~RY TO CONTACT AOC~C IN ORDER TO
VERIFY DEPTH OF TOP OF KICKOFF PLUG.
Bleed any pressure from the tubing, inner annulus and outer annulus to zero. ·
Install a back-pressure valve. Remove the well house and flowlines. Level the pad and dig out
the cellar. Prepare the pad for arrival of the rig.

OBJECTIVE,:
The objective of this sidetrack is to more effectively drain ZONE1 reserves. The well presently has
a Iow PI and is not draining ZONE1 reserves.
This sidetrack is a stand-alone 'medium radius' Zone 1, horizontal candidate. The proposed
trajectory kicks-off in the 7" liner and requires that a 6" hole be built up to horizontal inclination
and then drilled through the horizontal section. A 5" cemented liner will be set in the 6" hole to
ensure isolation from the gas cap. All perforating will be drillpipe conveyed with 3-3/8" guns.
SCOPE:
The scope of work is as follows: Displace well to seawater in pre-rig work. MIRU, shear SBR
f/slickstick, LD tubing, retrieve slickstick/latch, mill and retrieve packer. RIH w/7" mill.
Displace well to milling fluid. Mill a section in the 7" casing. RIH with 1,300' OF 2-7/8", 8.7#,
L-80, DSS-HTC tubing to PBTD at 10,652' md. Spot a 47 bbl balanced cement plug to abandon
perforations as well as serve as a kickoff plug. Pull out of hole to just inside top of liner. Squeeze
away 10 bbl of cement. Reverse circulate out any cement. RIH w/directional drilling assembly.
Kick-off with 6" bit/4-3/4" BHA. Displace well to FLO-PRO system. Continue directionally
drilling the new 6" hole to TD of +12,201' md giving +_1,391' of horizontal section. Set/cement a
5", 15#, L-80 or 13CR-80, STL liner from TD up to +_9450' md. Cleanout liner. Displace well to
seawater. Perforate well via drillpipe conveyed perforating hookup. Complete with 4-1/2" tubing
re-using as much of the 4-1/2" tubing that was pulled from the well as possible.
Timing.
This project is presently scheduled for Doyon Rig #14 upon completion of the J-01A Horizontal
Sidetrack on or about 02OCT94. The horizontal sidetrack should take approximately 17 days (12
days for drilling and 5 days for completion)

NRWO/Reperf/Stimulation Operation
A NRWO was performed using the following fluids below:
.lOB SUMMARY
_
Well appeared to lose over half it's injectivity during killing and
circulating, but did not respond to a 10 bbl 1596 HCL/20 94 Xylene
wash. Proceeded to squeeze with 12.6 bbl class "G" cement. Initial
P. test was JFT. Proceeded to reverse, but had to contaminate the
cement across the perforated interval as the cement was getting
too thick to reverse. Got good returns during jetting and
reversing but final P. test indicated a slow leak. Pumped in at
minimum rate (about 0.2 bpm) and observed pressure building at
1500 psi.
Decided to proceed with the inflow test. Leak is sufficiently small
that a resqueeze may be difficult. Furthermore, if there are some
plugged perfs, it would be better to underbalance the well prior
to a resqueeze.
NOTE: Used PW on this squeeze to reduce the risk of clay swelling
from breakup seawater, which is at 1200 ppm chlorides vs 16,000
during the winter. Water quality appeared good for produced
water. Due to lack of response to HC1/Xylene, any perf
plugging is most likely the result of thick asphaltene
goo (washed off the tubing) rather than PW. PWI plugging
generally responds well to HC1/Xylene.

WELL STATUS
Well operations were shut down after running 5-1/2" and 4-1/2" tubing, nippling down
BOPE, and installing the tree. A DIL/BHCS/CN-PORO has been run in the 8-1/2" hole and a
gyroscopic survey has been run from PBTD to surface. The 13-3/8" x 9-5/8" annulus has
been downsqueezed with cement and filled with non-freezing fluid.
REMAINING DRILLING OPERATIONS
The well will be completed by perforating underbalanced with wireline conveyed guns.
Perforations to be consistent to current development strategy. Flow well for simple cleanup.
Install sub surface safety valve in ball valve nipple.
