Well house inspections were also conducted. The testing went well with Ron White as the BPX representative in charge of testing. 12 wells were tested with two failures witnessed. The pilot on NK-12A tripped below 50% of the separator pressure and was replaced and passed a retest. The SSV on NK-62 failed to hold D.P. and was stroked and passed a retest. I inspected 12 well houses and all were in order with no exceptions noted. The AOGCC test forms are attached for reference. Commission AnchorE~je BP Exploration Alaska To: Tom Maunder - AOGCC Date: December 28, 2000 From: Scott Kolstad Subject: Reference: NK-12A Application for Sundry Permit - P&A for Sidetrack Operations APl # 50-029-22-41401 Well NK-12A was drilled in 1994. The well was shut in due to high water cut in mid 1997. The well is planned to be sidetracked to a new bottom hole location as a conventional producer targeting the Kuparuk · rd reservoir. The sidetrack is currently scheduled for Doyon 14 beginning around February 3 , after the completion of Niakuk 43. The pre-rig work for this sidetrack is planned to begin as soon as the attached Application for Sundry is approved. Pre-Riq Work: * Notify the field AOGCC representative with intent to plug and abandon * 1. RIH with CTU, through tubing, to top of fill in 7 5/8" casing. Perform a cement P&A using 15.8 ppg class 'G' cement with adequate cement volume to fill the 7 5/8" casing from top of fill to a minimum of 100' above the top perforation (-14,366'). Squeeze 5 additional bbls into the perforations. 2. Rig up slickline, tag and document top of cement and drift tubing for upcoming tubing cut. 3. Liquid pack the tubing and 7-5/8" x 4-1/2" annulus to surface. Test the integrity of the cement plug and casing by simultaneously pressure testing both the tubing and annulus to 3000 psi for 30 minutes. Increase tubing pressure prior to the 9-5/8" annulus to avoid possibility of tubing collapse. 4. Cut the 4 Y2", 12.6#, tubing at approximately 11,500' MD. Displace the well to clean seawater by circulating down tubing through the tubing cut. Continue to circulate until clean seawater returns to surface. Freeze protect top 2200' MD with diesel. 5. Pressure test the casing pack off for 30 minutes. If 7 5/8" casing was set on emergency slips, test the 7 5/8" pack off to 3,832 psi, which is 80% of the casing collapse pressure. If the 7 5/8" casing was landed on a mandrel hanger, test the pack off to 5,000 psi. Test the tubing hanger seals to 5000 psi for 30 minutes. 6. Bleed tubing and annuli pressures to zero. Set a BPV in the tubing hanger and test from below to 1000 psi. Secure well. 7. Remove the well house and flowlines. If necessary, level the pad. Please provide total well preparation cost on the handover form. , .Fli_~ 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. . Operations: MIRU Doyon 14. Circulate out freeze protection and displace well to seawater. Set TWC & test from below. Nipple down tree. Nipple up and test BOPE. Pull and lay down 4-1/2" tubing from E-line cut and above. MU 7-5/8" window milling assembly and RIH to top of tubing stub. POOH. RU E-line and set CIBP at ~11,010' MD. To avoid cutting a casing collar, set the BP 2'- 3' above a collar. RIH with 7-5/8" Baker bottom-trip anchor whipstock assembly. Orient whipstock as necessary and set. Mill window in 7-5/8" casing. Perform FIT test· POOH 8. RIH with 6 3/4" drilling assembly to whipstock. Kick-off and drill to Tldt~Z @ ~73 degrees inclination. Continue to drill through Kuparak Sand to Top Kingak dropping angle to -35 degrees inclination. 9. Spot liner running pill. POOH w/DP. Run and cement a 4 ¥2", 12.6 # production liner. Displace cement w/viscosified brine perf pill followed by fresh water spacer and mud. Release from liner and circulate out excess cement and displace well to sea water. POOH. After cement has gained compressive strength, test the casing and liner from the landing collar to surface to 3000 psi for 30 minutes 10. Drill pipe convey perforate Kuparak sands @ 6JSPF. 11. Install 4-1/2", 12.6# L80 new or used tubing completion. 12. Drop ball/rod & set packer and test the tubing to 3500 psi and annulus to 3000 psi for 30 minutes. 13. Nipple down the BOPE. Nipple up and test the tree to 5000 psi. 14. Freeze protect the well to -2200' and secure the well. 15. Rig down and move off. Post-Riq Work: 1. MIRU slickline. Logs and tapes were sent to you for each of these wells in the past year. Rbcently Anadrill has improved the density algorithm and re- created all of'our LWD CDN data using the new algorithm. This processing decreases the density a couple of porosity units, making the readings more accurate. Please replace the first set of tapes and the first set of CDN logs we sent you so that these improved logs are used for your analyses. The NK-21 blueline and sepia you received in December were the re-processed version and, therefore, do not need to be replaced. Per 20.AAC 25.537(d) BP Exploration requests that these logs held confidential for 24 months. Please contact me at 564-4531 if you have any questions. Commission Anchorage Notice of Public Hearing STATE OF ALASKA Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Re: The application of BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. for exception to 20 AAC 25.055 to allow drilling the Niakuk 12A development oil well. BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. by letter dated December23, 1993 has requested, an exception to the provisions of 20 AAC 25.055(a)(3) for the drilling of a development oil well to an undefined oil pool in the Prudhoe Bay Unit. The exception would allow BP to drill the Niakuk 12A development oil well to a location that is 1) closer than 500 feet from a quarter section line; and 2) is the second well drilled to the pool within a governmental quarter section. The well will be drilled as a deviated hole from a surface location 1327' from the south line and 996' from the east line (FEL) of Section 36, T12N, R15E, Umiat Meridian (UM) to a bottom-hole location 295' from the south line and 790' FEL of Section 23, T12N, R15E, UM. A person who may be harmed if the requested order is issued may file a written protest prior to 4:00 PM January 10, 1994 with the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, 3001 Porcupine Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, and request a hearing on the matter. If the protest is timely filed and raises a substantial and material issue crucial to the Commission's determination, a hearing on the matter will be held at the above address at 9:00 AM on January 24, 1994 in conformance with 20 AAC 25.540. If a hearing is to be held, interested parties may confirm this by calling the Commission office, (907) 279-1433, after January 10, 1994. If no protest is filed, the Commission will consider the issuance of the order without a hearing. Russell A.
