Due to mechanical problems with the HBR Hot Oil Truck the pressure test was delayed until 11:00 AM. The 4 1/2" tubing was pressured up to 1,600 PSI and monitored for 30 minutes with no pressure loss. The Inner Annulus was also monitored and mirrored the tubing pressured, the Outer Annulus remained constant. This well is scheduled for a redriil because of collapsed 5 1/2" tubing at 9,367 and Tubing to Inner Annulus communication, i reviewed the well history file provided to me by BPX representative P.E. Ted Stagg. From the file ! retrieved the following information: The well was P & A'd on 2/26/95 by squeezing 20 bbl's of 15.8 ppg Class "G" Cement with Coil Tubing. Tubing RIH to 9, 300' and established a pump rate of 2.6 bbls/min, with a final injection pressure of 620 PSI. During this process the Inner Annulus pressure increased along with the injection pressure. The TOC for this plug was verified with Wireline at 8,495', giving adequate coverage above the perforations (9,418'- 9,500' )and the 5 1/2" Liner top(9,052'). SUMMARY: I witnessed the, 30 minute 1,600 pound, pressure test on the Perforation Isolation cement plug on BPX PBU Well P-12. Attachments: None. Under the authority of Conservation Order 341, Rule 5, these wells are not required to have fail-safe automatic SSSVs. However, the L?Ss and SSVs must be maintained in good condition and, if for any reason, the wells again become capable of unassisted flow of hydrocarbons, the SSSVs must be reinstalled and maintained in good working condition. Wondzell Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission 3001 Porcupine Drive Anchorage, Alaska, 99501 SUBJECT: WELL P-12 (43-31-11-13) VARIANCE Dear Mr. Wondzell: Please find attached Application For Approval to produce Prudhoe Oil Pool Well P- 12 (43-31-11-13) under variance. Well P-12 is a gas lifted production well. On the basis of fluid build up in the annulus the well was suspected to have tubing/annulus communication and shut in November 1993. Final confirmation of a tubing leak was obtained in March 1994 when the tubing gas lift valves were removed and dummied and the well failed a tubing integrity test, leaking 0.5 bpm at 2000 psi tubing pressure. The well also has a partially collapsed liner above the perforations. It is believed that this damage could not be removed by a remedial rig workover. The well is planned to be sidetracked to a favorable reservoir location nearby. Due to drilling rig scheduling this is unlikely to occur before November 1994. This application seeks permission to produce P-12 until the sidetrack to access the wells' oil stream. The well would be produced under strict surveillance of the annulus pressures. The drilling fluid program will consist of an 8.5-9.5 ppg spud mud in the 13-1/2" hole, a 9.0 - 9.7 ppg water base mud in the 9-7/8" hole and a 9.0 ppg water base mud in the 6-3/4" hole. Drill 13-1/2" hole to 2700' MD and cement 10-3/4" 45# NT-80 buttress casing to surface. Install blowout prevention equipment consisting of 5000 psi W.P. pipe rams, blind rams, and annular preventer. Maximum possible bottomhole pressure is 4390 psi at 8800' TVDss based on original reservoir pressure. Maximum possible surface pressure is 3330-Psi based on a gas column to surface from 8600' TVDss and an oil column to 8800' TVDss. Directional drill 9-7/8" hole to the 7-5/8" casing point above the Shublik formation. Run 7-5/8" 29.7# L-80 NSCC casing to within 10' of 9-7/8" TD and cement with Class G cement around the 7-5/8" shoe. The annulus will be freeze protected by dry crude. Formation leak-off tests will be performed 10' below both 13-1/2" casing shoe and 7-5/8" casing shoe as per AAC 25.030. Directional drill 6-3/4" hole to TD. Run 5-1/2" liner from TD to 250' inside 7-5/8" casing shoe and cement using Class G cement. Clean out to 5-1/2" float equipment. Change over to NaCI completion fluid. Test casing and lap to 3000 psi. Run 7-5/8" production packer on tubing. Set packer 50' above top of liner. A subsurface safety valve with dual control lines will be placed 100' below base of permafrost. Install and test tree. Displace tubing to diesel. Set and test packer. Fluids incidental to the drilling of a well will be pumped down the 7-5/8" x 10- 3/4" annulus of the well.
