Box 196612 Anchorage, AK 99519-6612 Attn: Larry Parnell Dear Lan'y, I have compiled a summary of Anadrill's performance on DS 05-03A SERVICES PROVIDED MWD with DWOB and DTOR was picked up on 26-May-93 to kick off at 8012' at the top of the window. Gamma Ray was added (DLW) on 31-May-1993 at a depth of 9330' to pick out the geological zones of interest. This service was utilized to the 7" liner depth point at 10801'. CDR/CDN recorded was picked up for the washdown from 9900' to 10801'. This service determined the GOC of DS 05-03A ST #1. Casing point at 10801' MD was reached on 11-June-93. Slim one, DSS with Gamma Ray, was picked up and mn in the 6" hole section from 10801' to TD at 11601' between 14-June-93 and 16-June-93. OPERATING STATISTICS Total MWD footage for the well was 3601' and was accomplished over 13 bitruns in 248.9 total operating hours. No MWD failures occurred either in the 8 1/2" DLW section or the 6" Slim One Gamma Ray section of the well. A total of 148 MWD surveys were taken with the directional driller using 62 surveys. JOB PERFORMANCE Evaluation of data in the window indicates new formation being drilled at approximately 8041', which came 29' after the beginning of the kick off. This is seen in the formation strength (FORS), dimensionless torque (TD), and penetration rate (ROP) variables on the MEL log. This was a firm cement plug for the kick off. The first well was drilled to 10443' in 8 bitruns. All the bits used here were 8 3/8" size. At 9756' to 9970' the SPIN log showed very poor surface to downhole weight transfer to the bit. With no weight getting to the bit the DD was unable to slide and build angle so at this point a decision was made to pull out of the hole and lay down a stabilizer which was believed to be hanging up downhole. On return to bottom a better weight was encountered as seen on the SPIN log. The MEL log detected 2 separate locked cones at depths 8626' and 9528'. A noticeable increase in XSTQ from rotating to sliding showed the exact depth where this happened in both cases. At 9424' the well was plugged back due to the TVD being too deep to attempt to drill horizontally in the reservoir section due to a poor expected build rate in this portion of the well. The 2nd sidetrack was drilled to TD at 10601' in 4 bitruns. The first bin'un used an 8 3/8" bit to 9783'. This bit was pulled due to a locked cone which was seen with the XSTQ variable on the MEL log. From this depth on to TD all bits used were 8 1/2" in size. Drag was seen to increase as the well was drilled to TD which was due in part to the large doglegs in the well. The drag over sliding intervals was seen to increase on occasion which is probably also due in part to a drop in hole cleaning efficiency in horizontal holes. Slim one Gamma Ray was picked up 14-June-93 at 10801' and the horizontal section was completed-in 800' with one bitrun. The Gamma Ray tool detected sands with 40 AAPI units throughout the section. The sands appeared very clean with few hardspots encountered while drilling. The average ROP was 95 ft/hr which went as high as 200 ft/hr. It appeared from the Gamma Ray log that the hole never deviated from the reservoir section with the end result being an 800' horizontal section of producible sands. For your c6nvenience I have included an ASCII file of the surveys, the foot data along with a hard copy of the surveys, a SPIN, MEL, and a GAMMA RAY log. Anadrill appreciates the opportunity to supply services on your well and we we look forward to continuing a healthy business relationship. Johnston Commissioner [ne comm, ssion Form 10-401 Rev. 12-1-85 Submit in triplicate DS 5-3 Redrill Obiective: The objective of the DS 5-3A redrill is to access Zone 1 reserves by drilling a horizontal hole to a location 1100' north of the current BHL. This sidetrack will include a 750' horizontal section with a slotted liner completion. The 80 acre reserves originally targeted for DS5-3 are being drained by two new horizontal wells: 5-21 and 5-27. In addition, the current well would require a tubing patch and other extensive work to return the it to production. The new horizontal well will allow access to reserves which had not previously been targeted. Post sidetrack rates are estimated at 1500 bopd, 8% WC, and 800 scf/stb GOR. .S..cope: The scope of the DS 5-3A reddll is as follows: Plug and abandon the original perforations, pull the existing 5-1/2" tubing completion, mill a 50' section in the 9-5/8" casing starting at 8000' MD. Lay a cement plug across the section, kickoff and drill a new 8-1/2" hole to a 90° hole angle. Run and cement a 7" 29# L-80 liner. Drill approximately 1000' of 6" horizontal section. Recomplete with a 4-1/2" 13 Cr slotted liner and 4-1/2" x 3-1/2" 13 Cr tubing. Open hole logging will be accomplished with GR / Neutron / Density MWD tools in the 8- 1/2" hole section and GR only in the 6" hole section. Timing: This project is presently scheduled for Nabors Rig 2ES upon completion of the DS 5-24A redrill in mid - May, 1993. The redrill should take approximately 16 days.
