Drilling & Wells Coiled Tubing Drilling Team Well E-23a is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack to be drilled with coiled tubing. The following summarizes the procedure required to prep E-23a for drilling and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of this proposed completion is attached. ]. A Tubing Integrity Test on 7/16/00 was successful. 2. The well was drifted to10989'md with slickline on 8/29/00. 3. A MITIA was successful on 8/31/00. 4. A inflatable bridge plug (IBP) will be set at approx. 11,190'md (8828'tvdss) with service coil. 5. Using service coil the existing slotted liner and perforations will be abandoned by laying in approximately 9bbls (7" liner vol.) of cement above the IBP. 6. The window will be milled off of the cement plug with service coil out of the 7" liner with the KOP at approximately 11,050'md (8812'tvdss) 7. A sidetrack of approx. 1300 ft into Zone 1 b will be drilled with CT. 8. The sidetrack will be completed with a cemented 2 3/8" liner that will be brought up into the existing tubing tail and cemented in place. The cement top will be approximately 10,960'md (8,784'tvdss). Service coil is expected to perform steps 4, 5 and 6 beginning on September 17, 2000. Drilling coil is expected to begin the sidetrack drilling on September 22, 2000. Freeze protect the well and set a back pressure valve (BPV.) Test the intermediate casing pack-off to 5000 psi. Move in the workover rig. Test the 9-5/8" intermediate casing pack-off if not done dudng the pre-rig work. Pull the BPV. Circulate the diesel freeze protection cap from the well and recover for future use. Install a BPV and a test tree plug. Remove the production tree. Install BOP's and test to 5,000 psi. Remove the test plug and BPV. Pull out of the hole and lay down the 4-1/2" tubing. Replace the 9-5/8" casing pack-off as needed. Set a bridge plug @ 8,850'MD Spot a 18 ppg pill on bottom and cut a 50' section in the 9-5/8" casing starting from about 8600' MD. Spot a balanced cement kick-off plug (180 cubic feet minimum) through open-ended drillpipe from 100' below the base of the section to 200' above the top of the section. Run_in with an 8-1/2" steerable drilling assembly and dress the cement to 5' below the section top. Kickoff and directionally drill to the target at 8950'TVD-ss as per the attached directional plan. Obtain Gamma RaW Resistivity / Neutron / Density formation evaluation logs while drilling in zones designated by Geology. Run a 7" 29# 13Cr / L-80 NSCC liner assembly to bottom in the 8-1/2" hole, space the 13Cr to L-80 crossover at 300'MD above the Sag River formation. Space the liner hanger and top isolation packer about 150' up inside the 9-5/8" casing, r~ ~,,_~'-~- Cement the 7" liner with 643 ft3 of class G cement. The cement volume calculation is based on 60% excess of open hole volume plus 150' of lap and 40' of shoe volume. Re-test BOP's as needed. Run in with 6'__~' steerable drilling assembly with directional/Gamma Ray MWD on 5-1/2" x 3-1/2" drillpipe. Drill out the float shoe. Displace the well with a non-damaging (Xanvis polymer) drilling fluid. Drill approximately 1000' of 6" hole to TD as per the Geologist / Operations Engineer onsite. Make a conditioning trip with a 6" hole-opener for the open hole section with a 7" casing scraper spaced to clean the liner. Install a 4-1/2" L-80 slotted liner with 7" Baker packer / hanger. Run in on 4-1/2" x 3- 1/2" drillpipe with a 2-1/16" wash string inside the slotted liner. Space packer / hanger to be set within 100' of the 7" liner shoe. PoSition packer 100' above the 7" liner shoe and circulate. Set the packer and test the setting. Release from the packer / hanger and displace the drilling fluid with filtered seawater but no corrosion inhibitor. Spot the breaker inside the slotted liner. Pull the wash string up just above the hanger and circulate well clean with filtered and inhibited seawater. Pull out of the hole and lay down the wash string. Retest 9-5/8" wellhead packoff and replace as needed. Run the 3-1/2" L-80 completion stdng assembly. Space out, attach the tubing hanger, and latch the completion. Install a BPV and test plug. Remove BOP's. Install and test the production tree to 5000 psi. Pull tree test plug and BPV. Test the tubing x casing annulus to 3500 psi for 30 minutes.
