Summary
Ma¥25 & 26, 1999: MIRU HB&R. Kill well with 313 bbls filtered 2% KCL water and freeze protect tubing
with 30 bbls MEOH. MIRU SWS Ut #2158. Pick up Baker CIBP on SAFE system. RIH. Set CIBP at 10520'
(ref: PDS GR/CCL 3/12/96). POH. PT tubing to 1500 psi. OK. Call for radio silence. Pick up TIW
Whipstock anchor and RIH. Set bottom of anchor at 10440' (ref: PDS GR/CCL 3/12/96). Good surface
indication of set. POS tool indicated lug orientation at 38° right of high side. POH. Lay down setting tool
and POS tool. Pick up WS latch with GPIT. RIH to verify orientation. Inconsistent orientation readings.
POH to inspect tools. Check repeatability of POS and GPIT tools on the surface. Both repeat well. Stinger
has been in anchor slot ..... tattletale sheared. Marks on bullnose suggest stinger tagging hard on something,
possibly the top of the anchor at higher eline speed. Replace tattletale, add swivel to GPIT tool. RIH. Tag
anchor at 20 fpm. Make four entries, all consistent at 112° to 115° left of high side. POH. Tattletale not
sheared. RIH again. Make six entries at various running speeds. Readings varied from 114° to 128° left of
high side (looking downhole). Wellbore deviation is 51.7°. POH. Tattletale (2" long piece of lead solder)
mashed against key, but not sheared. The key is shiny on the bottom like it has rubbed in the keyway. The
tattletale is not sheared possibly due to the high wellbore deviation. This is the highest wellbore deviation
that this anchor has been set in by this TIW representative. Discuss options with Slope CTD personnel.
Given the facts that (a) the well is highly deviated reducing ability to set down weight, (b) the positive
markings on the stinger indicating entry into the anchor, and (c) that thirteen readings fell between 111° and
128° left of high side, the orientation verification is thought to be valid. Rig down SWS Ut #2158.
Note: Estimated Daily Costs include the cost of the TIW Whipstock and personnel time to run it,
although these costs will be incurred after CTD rig up.

Well E-15b CT Sidetrack
Well E-15a is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack to be drilled
with coiled tubing. A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack
completion is attached. E-15a is a horizontal sidetrack with both
perforations and slotted liner in the horizontal section to be
abandoned. E-15b will be completed with a fully cemented and
perforated 2 7/8" liner. The following summarizes the procedure
required to prepare E-15a for sidetracking and is submitted as an
attachment to Form 10-403.
1. A tubing integrity test was successfully performed on 3/29/99.
2. Tubing and liner will be drifted with a 3.65" OD drift.
3. A Cast Iron Bridge Plug will be set at 10,500', above existing perfs.
The well will be pressure tested to 1500 psi against this bridge
plug.
4. A 4.5" whipstock will be set on E-Line at 10,424'.
5. Window milling through the 4 ½" liner will be done by drilling coil
after approval of the Form 10-40t.
Prep work is expected to begin by May 15, 1999 and milling/drilling is
expected to begin about May 20, 1999.

Comments on E-15b abandonment & sidetrack prep

The attached abandonment procedure for E-15b does not follow precisely the
procedures described in the regs but is consistent with some earlier work and
makes sense to me.
The entire existing producing interval ofE-15a is essentially horizontal. There is
no interest, from a reservoir management viewpoint, in cementing across this long
horizontal interval prior to drilling the new sidetrack. Our goals can be met by
setting a bridge plug above the existing perfs.
The plan I have submitted calls for setting a cast iron bridge plug above the
existing perfs and slotted liner and pressure testing this plug. The next step would
be to set the whipstock anchor, which is a solid plug itself, just above the CIBP.
This would provide two permanent plugs isolating the original horizontal
completion from the window for the new sidetrack.
The whipstock would then be stung into the whipstock anchor. After milling and
drilling, the sidetrack completion will be a fully cemented 2 7/8" liner with a
cement volume large enough to place 200 ft of cement above the window.
While this procedure differs a bit from what is described in the regs I believe it
makes both technical and economic sense for this type of sidetrack. To add
additional cementing to this horizontal well prep would add significant cost with
no benefit that I can see.

Sunday, December 4, 1994: I traveled to Doyon rig #14 to witness the weekly BOP
test on their rig which is presently drilling BPX well # E-15 in the Prudhoe Bay Field.
The rig was still coming out of the hole when I arrived. The test once staded went very
well with all components functioning properly and holding their pressure test. The test
lasted 2.5 hours with no failures observed. I found the rig to be in very good condition.
Mark Egholm (Doyon Toolpusher) showed foresight in scheduling this test as it was not
due for two more days. The rig was standing by for cement to cure and this test was
performed as to give them a solid week of drilling without interuption.
Summary: I witnessed the weekly BOP test on Doyon rig #14. Test time 2.5 hours. No
failures.

permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not
authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required
permitting determinations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with
20 AAC 25 035. Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given
to allow a representative of the Commission to witness a test of BOPE
installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given by contacting

Pre-rig work. RU slickline unit. WLIH and install a plug in the 4-1/2" XN nipple in the
+ ,
tailpipe at _9409 md'. WLOH. WLIH and punch circulating holes in the 7" tubing at
_+9270' md in the middle of the first full joint above the packer. WLOH and RD slickline.
Freeze protect tubing and annulus to 2000' md/tvd and set a BPV.
Move in drilling rig.
Pull BPV. Circulate diesel freeze protection cap from well and recover for future use.
Install a BPV and tree test plug. Remove the production tree.
Install BOP's and test to 5000 psi. Remove the test plug and BPV.
Shear SBR. Pull and lay down the 7'-- tubing.
Recover slickstick/anchor. Mill and retrieve packer.
Displace well to milling fluid. Cut a 50' section in the 7'__~' casing starting from about
+_IO.;~O0'MD.
RIH with 2-7/8", 8.7#, DSS tubing and lay a cement plug from PBTD across and above the
section up to -+9963' md. This plug will serve as both the abandonment plug and the kickoff
plug. Squeeze away approximately 5 bbl cement to abandon perforations leaving the top opf
cement before drilling out at -+10,100' md which is 200' above top of window.
Run in with an 4-3/4" steerable drilling assembly and a 6" bit with gamma ray/directional
MWD and dress the cement to 5' below the section top. Kickoff and if necessary displace well
to a clean FLO-PRO system. Continue to directionally drill to TD at +_11,688' md which
should yield _+644' of horizontal section (see attached directional plan).
Make a conditioning trip with a 6" hole-opener for the open hole section and with a 9-5/8"
casing scraper spaced to clean the casing.
Install a 4-1/2". 17_.6#. L-80. NSCT solid liner x 4-1/2". L-80 slotted liner with 4-
1/2" X 9-5/8" packer/hanger. Space packer / hanger to be set at _+9,2_75' md.
Cement the liner in place with the total cement volume based upon 50 % open-hole
enlargement plus the 80' shoe volume, 150' lap volume and 150' excess on top of the liner
with drillpipe in the hole. Set hanger, inflate CTC packer.
Re-test BOP's as needed.
RIH and cleanout
Displace well to seawater.
Run the 4-1/2" L-80 completion string assembly utilizing as much used 4-1/2" tubing as
possible. Space out and circulate with corrosion inhibitor.
Install a BPV and test plug. Remove BOP's.
Install and test the production tree to 5000 psi. Pull tree test plug and BPV.
Set packer.
Test the tubing x casing annulus to 3500 psi for 30 minutes.
Shear RP valve in the upper GLM and freeze protect the well.
Set a BPV. Release rig.
Complete appropriate documentation and hand-over to Production.
