Well M-38Ai CTD Sidetrack Prep
BP Exploration Alaska Inc.
Drilling & Wells
Coiled Tubing Drilling Team
Well M-38 is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack to be drilled with coiled
tubing. The following summarizes the procedure required to prep M-38 for
drilling and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic
diagram of this proposed completion is attached.
1. Tree wing & master valves will be tested.
2. Using slickline, tubing will be drifted, a caliper run on the liner.
3. Inner Annulus will be liquid packed and pressure tested.
4. Using either slickline or E-line, A mechanical plug will be set in the 4-1/2"
tubing at approximately 9,098' MD (8,754' TVDss).
5. Using E-line, a 7-5/8" through tubing whipstock will be run & set in the 7-5/8"
casing at approximately 8,840'md (8,498' TVDss). (A cement whipstock
may be substituted)
6. Service coil will pump approximately 15 barrels of cement to squeeze the
perforations between the whipstock and mechanical plug. (This step will be
eliminated if a cement whipstock is utilized)
?. Service coil may then mill a 3.8" window out of the 7-5/8" casing.
Slickline, E-line, and service coil prep work is expected to commence July 3rd.
Coil tubing drilling operations, as detailed below will commence July 10th, 2001.
1. A 3-3/~'' sidetrack, -1500' long will be drilled out of the 7-5/8" casing and into
Zones 4, 3, and 2.
2. The sidetrack will be completed with a 3-3/16" x 2-7/8", solid, cemented &
perforated liner.

BOPE Test - Nabors 18E
BPX - PBU - M-38i
PTD # 94-141
Prudhoe Bay Field
Tuesday, November 8, 1994: I traveled this date to BPX's PBU well M-38i, being
drilled by Nabors rig 18 E, and witnessed the BOPE teSt.
As the attached AOGCC BOPE Test Report shows there were no failures of any
equipment tested. The rig was clean and all equipment seemed to be in good
working order. The location was clean and there was good access to most areas of
the rig.
Summary: I witnessed the BOPE test on Nabors 18E this date - 0 failures - test time
2.5 hours.

Dear Mr. Jordan:
Enclosed is the approved application for permit to drill the above
referenced well.
The permit to drill does not exempt you from obtaining additional
permits required by law from other governmental agencies, and does not
authorize conducting drilling operations until all other required
permitting determinations are made.
The blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance
with 20 AAC 25.035; and the mechanical integrity (MI) of the injection
wells must be demonstrated under 20 AAC 25.412 and 20 25.030(g)(3).
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) of the MI test before
operation, and of the BOPE test performed before drilling below the
surface casing shoe, must be given so that a representative of the
Commission may witness the tests. Notice may be given by contacting the
Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at
659-3607.

TVDss. Function test BOPE to 5000/250 psi.
,
Test 10-3/4" casing to 3000 psi for 30 minutes. A formation leak-off test will be
performed 10' below the 10-3/4" shoe.

THE REPEAT PASS WAS RE-RUN A SECOND TIME. MUD CAKE ON
THE ZDL PAD CAUSED A STANDOFF WHICH RESULTED IN POOR
REPEATABILITY ON FIRST PASS. DIFL/AC/GR IS PRESENTED
FOR THE FIRST REPEAT PASS & ZDL/CN/GR IS PRESENTED ON
THE SECOND REPEAT PASS.
