Commission Anchorage On October 28, 1998 you requested an update from Shared Service Drilling regarding Annular Disposal Records from July 25, 1995 through preSent time. We compared your list with our records and are able to provide yOu with the following data: · Individual Annular DiSposal Logs from the SSD database which coincide with the approved wells on your attached AOGCC Annular Log. The.SSD records are provided to you in the same order as listed on your log. · There were some wells on your list which were not injected into. These wells are identified as follows: Endicott wells 1-03/P-16, 1-65/N-25, 1-59/0-24 · EXploration well Pete's Wicked #1 · Milne Point wells E-22, E-23, F-O1, L-16, J-19, L-25, F-30, L-21, K-38, NMP #1 & #2, K-05, K-02, H-07, K-25, K-37, E-17, F-21, K-30, K-34, K-21i, F-66, K-06, K-54, K-33, F-49i, K-18 · PBU Wells E-38, 18-34, 15'42, S,29A, 15-46, B-36, 15-43, 11-38 · The reason many of these annuli were not used is because the waste materials .generated from these wells were injected into other approved annuli. Hopefully the injection logs submitted with this letter will clarify this. In addition, please note that our records show: · The wells listed above in italics were permitted but not used for annular disposal. · The wells listed above in BOLD were not permitted for annular disposal. Wells drilled after June 6, 1996 were required by SSD procedure to be permitted with a Sundry Approval (10-403) form. Our records show that no Sundry Approval for Annular Disposal was filed for these wells. Wells drilled between July 25, 1995 and June 6, 1996 were automatically apprOVed for annular disposal with the Permit to Drill. We also provide -you with a cumulative report from our database of records from July 25, 1995 through the present. FrOm those records, we show the following wells not listed on your report were used for annular disposal: SCANNED NOV 1 2 2002 ~ ,_Annular Disposal Letter 12/14/98 · · · · Endicott wells i-23/O-15, 1-61/Q-20, 2-40/S-22 · ExPloration well Sourdoueh//3 - · Milne Point wells F-06, H-05, H-06, J-13, L-24 - ~. o,! ~l$-)~q ,~ ! ~-Io3 - · PBU wells-18~30, 18-31, 14~4,.~-43, E-34, E-36, G-04A, and S-33- · Individual logs are provided to ~ou fo~ thes~ ~'ogs as we~l. c)?_. · Finally, our records show that the B-24 outer annulus was left open (see attached correspondence) Thank you for the opportunity to provide clarity to these records. Diverter Test- Doyon 9 ARCO PBU DS 18-32 Prudhoe Oil Pool PTD. 95-124 Saturday September 9, 1995: I witnessed the Diverter Function Test on Doyon Rig at ARCO's PBU well DS 18-32. The AOGCC Diverter Function Test report is attached for reference. The area immediately to the rear of the rig has an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) skid and multiple pipelines. The diverter vent line must pass through this area and beyond for proper venting. During the 6 well drilling program at this location Doyon has had to contend with the pipelines, EOR skid and new construction. Early on in the drilling program Doyon made changes in their diverter spool to accomodate the elevations in the pipelines. At this point the diverter vent line is 120' in length and is able to clear all obstacles with room to spare. Doyon has gone to a great effort to comply with AOGCC regs.. Commission 4390psi ~ 8800' ss 3330 psi ~ 8800' ss 8.6 ppg filtered sea water The drilling fluid program and surface system will conform to the regulations set forth in 20AAC25.003. Maximum surface pressure is based on BHP and a full column of gas to TD (0.10 psi/ft). The Cretaceous/Ugnu interval may be overpressured due to injection. This interval has produced salt-water flows on 18-29 and 18-28. Mud weights of up to 10.0 ppg may be required. d. No potential hazardous levels of H2S are anticipated in this well. e. Drilling Hazards: · Minor gas zones have been encountered around the K5 (7425' TVDss) to HRZ interval. · The Put River is a gas bearing sand at 8055' TVDss. It is not well developed in this area and is probably in pressure communication with the Sadelrochit. The required mud weight should be 9.8-10.2 PPg. · The Sag River may be overpressured in this area. The required mud weight should be 10.1 - 10.2 ppg. · A gas zone is present from Top of Sag River to the current GOC. · A 20' fault is mapped 200' from the TD of this well. Several small faults are within 200'-300' of the wellbore through the Sadelrochit interval. These faults should not be a problem, but lost circulation is a possibility. KB 18-32 Ops Summary August 14, 1995 DS 18-32 Addition to Permit to Drill Request for Annular Injection Disposal: Cuttings Handling: Cuttings should be hauled to the ball mill at CC-2A. Fluid Handling: All drilling and completion fluids can be annular injected. Request to have well DS 18-32 for annular pumping. Request to AOGCC for Annular Pumping Approval for DS 18-32: 1. Approval is requested for Annular Pumping into the DS 18-32 10-3/4" x 7-5/8" casing annulus. 2. As referenced in Area Injection Order #4, there are no drinking water aquifers in the Prudhoe Bay Field Eastern Operating Area (including the Lisburne Oil Pool), as the average level of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) at the ambient water within the proposed project area is above 10,000 ppm. There are no domestic or industrial use water wells located within one mile of the project area. 3. The 10-3/4" casing shoe will be set at 3825' MD (3694' TVD) which is below the Permafrost and in shale formations in the Sagavanirtok above the Ugnu Formation. 4. The burst rating (80%) for the 10-3/4" 45.5# NT-80 casing is 4170 psig while the collapse rating (80%) of the 7-5/8" 29.7# L-80 casing is 3830 psig. The break down pressure of the Ugnu formation is 13.5 ppg equivalent mud weight. The Maximum Allowable Surface Pressure while annular pumping is calculated according to the following equation and is 2465 psi for a 10.0 ppg fluid in this well (Assumes worst case in which 7-5/8" casing is filled with gas). MASP = 3830 psig - ((fluid density ppg - 1.9) X 0.052 X 10-3/4" Casing Shoe TVD) 5. A determination has been made that the pumping operation will not endanger the integrity of the well being drilled by the submission of data to AOGCC on 7/24/95 which demonstrates the confining layers, porosity, and permeability of the injection zone. 6. The cement design for this well ensures that annular pumping into hydrocarbon zones will not occur.
