Drilling & Wells Coiled Tubing Drilling Team Well 5-25a is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack to be drilled with coiled tubing. The following summarizes the procedure required to prep 5-25a for drilling and is submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of this proposed completion is attached. 1. A MITIA was successful on 9/06/00. 2. An anchor and whipstock will be set at approx. 10,000'md (8973'tvdss), 88deg inclination, with service coil. 3. Using service coil the existing slotted liner will be abandoned by squeezing approximately 46bbls of cement below the whipstock. 4. The window will be milled off of the whipstock with service coil out of the 3Y2"liner with the KOP at approximately 10,000'md (8973'tvdss) 5. A sidetrack of approx. 1674 ft into Zone la will be drilled with CT. 6. The sidetrack will be completed with a cemented 2 3/8" liner that will be brought up into the existing 3 ½" liner and cemented in place. The cement top will be approximately 9600'md (8,752'tvdss). Service coil is expected to perform steps 4, 5 and 6 beginning on September 23, 2000. Drilling coil is expected to begin the sidetrack drilling on September 28, 2O0O. The original ap- proved well plan entailed abandoning Well DS 11-9, cutting and pulling production tubing from + 10,000', then milling 9-5/8" casing at approx, this depth. Several removal at- tempts resulted in recovery of tubing to + 7,100'. At this point operating economics dic- tated ceasing fishing. This well plan revision involves setting a bridge plug ~ + 7,100' MD, milling casing from + 6820' - + 6870', setting a kick-off plug, and sidetracking the well to the original DS 11-9A targets. MEMORANDUM TO: / David Joh nst/~ Chairman State of Alaska Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission DATE: August 13, 1996 THRU' Blair Wondzell, ¢.¢..~ FILE NO: P. I. Supervisor FROM' Lou Grimaldi, ~..,.~ SUBJECT: Petroleum Inspector QEFJHMDD.DOC Rig BOPE Inspection Doyon Rig #9 Arco well #DS 5-25 Prudhoe Bay Field PTD #96-126 Tuesday, August 13, 1996: I made a Rig/BOPE inspection on Doyon Rig #9 drilling Arco well #DS5-25 in the Flow 1 area of the Prudhoe Bay Field. I arrived to find the rig in the midst of a fishing operation and was tripping in the hole to retrieve a lost bottom hole assembly. I made a tour of the rig and found all equipment to be in apparent good shape. The rig was in very good shape and the housekeeping both inside and outside showed that there is a high priority set in this area. I spoke with Richard Bordes briefly about the recently renewed emphasis placed on Surface Casing Cement jobs, and the procedures for dealing with improper returns. SUMMARY: I made a Rig/BOPE inspection on Doyon Rig #9 drilling Arco well #DS5-25, and found a good looking and well maintained rig. The most recent H2S level on this well was measured at 14 ppm (7/24/95). This is considered a low H2S well, but proper precautions will be taken as needed. eo Drilling Hazards: · . This wellbore may cross a fault in the horizontal section at - 11360' MD. Lost circulation may occur in this interval. Expected throw on this fault is 0-20'. · A gas zone is present from the KOP to the CGOC at 9832' MD. RECEIVED JUL ] 7 199~, Cons. The following operations will occur immediately following the plug and abandonment by the rig. . . PU Baker Anchor/whipstock assembly. MWD/CCL will be used to align the whipstock for a 30° left of highside exit. The bottom trip anchor will be set by slacking off on the bridge plug.. Once sheared from the whipstock, displace well with sidetrack drilling fluid - refer to attached mud program. Begin cutting window using only enough WOB and RPM to cut as smoothly as possible especially for the first 2-3' to insure good directional behavior and a good cut into the casing. After cutting remaining casing, try to make at least 22' of formation, approximately 38' total of milling and drilling from the top of the whipstock. This will allow the full-sized watermelon mill to pass through the window all the way down to the bottom of the window effectively reaming the sidetracked interval. Work the milling assembly up and down through the window several times to insure all tight spots and torque are minimized or eliminated. Ideally, assembly should be able to trip through window interval with pumps off. . . . 10. 11. 12. Circulate and condition.
