Set Baker CIBP at 9005', set Baker 5' 15# permanent whipstock at 8960', 20 deg. to the left of the
highside. Due to top of 2-7/8", there was not enough room to correlate and stop on the program
required position. Sat down at the top of the liner and picked up tension. Logged in real time to verify
the deviation of the whipstock.

Superseding previous letter dated March 2, 2001, the existing perfs will be
isolated using a CIBP set at 9005'. Because there is Iow risk of cross flow
in the existing perfs (9562'-10180') and the well is relatively tight, along
with the plan to cement the liner of the proposed sidetrack to above the
window, placing cement above the CIBP adding further isolation in the
wellbore, a CIBP should be sufficient to prep the S-08A for sidetrack.
Attached is a revised sketch showing proposed CiBP and sidetrack.

Well S-08a is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack with the Schl./Nordic coil drilling rig. The sidetrack,
S-08B, will kick off from a window milled in the Shublik through 7" and 5" liners, after cement squeezing all
existing perfs. The S-08B target is Zone 4. The following describes work planned to prep for sidetracking and is
submitted as an attachment to Form 10-403. A schematic diagram of the proposed sidetrack is attached for
reference.
1. Tubing and liner drifted.
2. Gas lift mandrels dummied off.
3. Kinley caliper tubing and liner.
4. Master valve, wing valve and tree successfully tested to 5000psi.
5. Wellhead seals tested for integrity.
6. Tubing integrity verified.
7. E-Line will set a mechanical whipstock at _+8,972' in the 5" liner.

Move rig from E pad to S-08a in 9 hours. Accepted rig on S-08a at 1100 hrs 04/14/99. N/U
BOPE. Spot green tank and trailers. M/U hardline. Thaw frozen choke and kill lines. Perform
initial BOPE test. Fill CT with SW. Install Baker CTC. MU milling BHA. RIH with BHA #1
(dimple mill/flex jt). Mill XN nipple at 8293' in 5 min. Mill window from 9035'.
04/16/99 2 9036' ~
Continue milling window. Very slow progress with several stalls. Mill window to 9036 ft. POOH
to inspect mill and motor. Reel drive flange - shaft failed at 1500 ft while POOH. Set reel brake
and isolate off-driller side reel motor. POOH with one reel motor. Change out Baker motor and
mill. Mill #1 only had 10% wear, indicating a weak motor. Rig off clock while repairing broken
reel drive flange - shaft. Freeze protected CT with 3 BBLS MEOH. Repair and replace
shaft/flange and test. MU BHA. RIH with BHA #2 (new dimple mill and motor).
04/17/99 3 9041'
RIH with Milling BHA #2. Correct to last mill depth of 9035.8 ft. Mill window from 9035.8 -
9041.5 ft. POOH for new mill. Change out mill. RIH with BHA #3. Tie-in to flag. Ream window
from 9033.5-9040.0' with abrupt drilloffs. Pick up after stall and lost ground to 9038.8'. Made
little headway. POOH to check BHA. Found flex joint had parted leaving mill and 28" of flex jt
in hole. WO WL unit to fish. RU Halliburton WL. RIH with overshot.
04/18/99 4 9041'
Continue rig standby while fishing with WL. Make four runs with overshot in various tool string
configurations without recovery. Kept getting alongside fish. Make two LIB runs which showed
fish top may be near high side (no small decentralizer available to show exact position). Make
one run with smaller OD overshot and one run with spear with no recovery. LD WL tools for
crew rest and gather tools for next runs. Backup whipstock for 5" 15# liner is in Holland.
Continue rig standby.
04/19/99 5 9041'
Continue stand-by with rig. Finish WL crew rest period. RIH with weight eccentered LIB. RIH
with overshot with V guide. RIH with various combinations of overshot, centralizer, wt bars and
knuckles for fishing high side of hole until right combo was found. POOH with fish (28" of flex jt
and 3.80" mill). RD WL. Rig back on clock at 0300 hrs. MU BHA. RIH with BHA #4 (3.80"
dimple mill, flex it). Milling window.
04/20/99 6 9047'
Continue reaming milled interval. Mill new window from 9041 - 9046 ft.' Ream window area 3
times and pump 30 bbl high viscosity pill to sweep hole. RIH and drill formation 9046 - 9047 ft.
Started stacking wt. POOH. Found flex joint had parted at upper pin connector shoulder. Call
for slickline unit to fish flex joint and mill. RU Halliburton WL unit. Make three runs with
overshot and one with LIB and tools were too large OD to get by whipstock top and to get down
to fish. LD WL unit for crew rest while gather smaller tools. Continue rig standby.

Rig on standby, waiting on slickline fishing operations. Perform weekly BOPE test. Fax test
report to AOGCC. Held Safety Stand down meeting with all personnel. RIH with 2.5" LIB and
got a good impression of top of fish. RIH with 1.0" spear (two runs). Latch into fish, POOH.
Recovered fish. Wear on mill indicated had been in formation. TIH w/formation mill-string
reamer. Correct depth to top of whipstock at flag. Mill thru and clean up window, mill formation.
04/22/99 8 9260'
Finish drilling formation with mill at 9051' (no progress). Ream thru window, clean. POOH for
drilling BHA. LD milling assy. MU drilling BHA. Change CTC. RIH with BHA #6 (2.8° motor,
M-09X bit). RIH thru window clean. Swap to used FIo Pro mud. Drill from 9051- 9260' building
angle. Unable to get high enough DLS to land at desired TVD. POOH, change out bit and motor.
Download Sperry data. TIH. Stop above window and repair injector head.
04/23/99 9 9692'
Finish RIH with 2.7° short radius motor to rectify drop. Drill from 9260-9404' building angle.
Skimmed top of Zone 3 at 8812' TVD (landed) and began right turn. POOH for motor for
horizontal section. Change motor and bit. RIH with BHA #8 (1.4° motor, DSlll bit). Drill
horizontal from 9404- 9440, BHA hanging in high DLS section. Backream to clean hole. Orient
toolface 180 deg. out and ream thru high DLS section. Drill ahead to 9700', short trip to window.
GR log for correlation, correct depth (-14'). TIH, drill ahead.
04/24/99 10 10332'
Drill from 9692-9710' making slow headway in a clay streak. POOH for bit. Tie-in, add 10'.
Change motor and bit. RIH with BHA #9 (1.04° motor/DS 49 bit). Drill horizontal from 9710-
9840'. Wiper trip to window. Drill to 1'0,150', wiper trip to window. 10K overpull at 9585', rest of
hole clean. Drill to TD 10,350', POOH to window. GR log for correlation. Correct depth (-18').
TD of well is 10,332' MD. POOH, flag pipe (white) at 8950' EOP. POOH.
04/25/99 11 8985'
LD drilling BHA. MU PDS Memory Induction tools and RIH on CT. Log down from 8700-10332'
at 30'/min. Log up at 30'/min to 8700'. POOH. LD PDS tools, download data. MU 41 jts 2-7/8"
6.16# L-80 STL liner. MU Baker CTLRT. TIH w/liner to 10332'. Circulate and reciprocate liner.
Drop CTLRT release ball and release from liner. Displace hole to 2% KCI. Pump 13 Bbl.
Cement, launch dart. Dart seated on Liner Wiper Plug and sheared at 3550 psi. Displace Liner
Wiper Plug to Latch Collar. Pressure to 2500 psi. Bleed off and check floats--held OK. All
displacement volumes correct. Pressure to 400 psi and pull out of liner top. Circulate and wash
liner top. Circulate while POOH. LD CTLRT, adjust injector head gooseneck. PU nozzle and 1
4,4" CS Hydril pipe. PU injector and TIH.

'Well 8-08 is scheduled for a through tubing sidetrack to be drilled With.
coiled tubing, The Permit to, Drill, 98-228, was issued on Nov. 18,
1gOB, Since that tlme the s~detrack has been re-designed to
accommodate a future sidetrack.
The S-0Ba sidetrack window will. be at the top of Zone 4, as deep as
oOSSi,ble for this Zone 4 sidetrack. There is future sidetrack potential
r this welt if the 7" liner is accessible below the top of the Sag River,
To provide for this future sidetrack option, BP is requesting' that the 2
7/8" liner for S-08a be terminated 50 ft above the window.' This
requires a variance from AAC 2{5.030 (7)(d)(§)(B) that requires a,.
"minimum o1' 100 feet of cemented lap~. A 50 ft lap will place tt~e top or
the cemented 2 7/8" liner within the Shublik interval, some 78 ft b'elow
the top of the Sag River.
,In the event that the ,50 ft of cemented lap fails a pressure'test, 'tl~e lap,
will be either cement squeezed' or the 2 7/8" liner top PBR willie
utilized for the installation of a.2 7/8" extension with a retrievable:liner
top packer set in the 4 ~" tubing. This extension with packer w0uld, b~
retrieved to provide access fo~ a future sidetrack. A schematic
drawing of the proposed 50 f~ lap and contingency liner, top,packer is
attached for reference.
Please advise, if this request is not cJear or if further information is'
needed,. The coil drilling rig is e×l~ected to move onto S-DBa
appro~m~ately Jan. 6, 1999.

coiled tubing., The Permit to Drill, 98-228, was issued on NOv,. 18,
t998. Since that time the sidetrack has been re-evaluated, and.'the
directional plan has changed. This change eliminates an upstructure
intermediate target but leaves the final downstructure target at TD
unchanged. The TD location is essentially unchanged ,,but the path to
be taken to TD has changed. The original directional plan, as
permitted, is attached for reference along with the new directional plan.
I don't believe this change in plans calls for a, new Permit to Drill or an
additional fee, Please advise if my interpretation is incorrect or if'
additional:information is needed, The coil drilling rig is expected to
move onto S-08a approximately Jan. 6, 1999.

other governmental agencies, and does not authorize conducting drilling operations until all other
required permitting dcterminations are made.
Blowout prevention equipment (BOPE) must be tested in accordance with 20 AAC 25 035.
Sufficient notice (approximately 24 hours) must be given to allow a representative of the
Commission to witness a test of BOPE installed prior to drilling new hole. Notice may be given
thc Commission petroleum field inspector on the North Slope pager at 659-3607.

S-08a Sidetrack
Summary of Operations:
S-08 is currently a Iow rate producer. The sidetrack, S-08a, will target attic oil in Zone 4.
This sidetrack will be conducted in two phases.
Phase 1: set whipstock and downsqueeze abandonment cement: Planned for
11/10/98.
· S-08 has passed a mechanical integrity test. The well has been drifted and a Kinley caliper
has been run. A final Schmoo-B-Gone treatment will be pumped prior to setting the
whipstock.
· A permanent whipstock will be set on ELine at approximately 8,975' MD.
· Existing perforations will be abandoned with approx. 15 bbls cement. Abandonment
cement will be downsqueezed past the whipstock and squeezed to 1500 psi with AC)GCC
witness. This procedure is described in more detail in the Form 10-403.
Phase 2: Mill Window and Drill Directional Hole: Planned for 11/18/98.
Directional drilling coil tubing equipment will be rigged up and utilized to mill the
window (if not done by service coil) and drill the directional hole as per attached
plan. The completion will be a fully cemented 2 7/8" liner.
Mud Program: - Phase 1: Seawater
- Phase 2: FIo-Pro (8.8 - 8.9 ppg)
Liner Program:
- 2 7/8", 6.16#, L-80, ST-L liner will be run from TD to approx. 8,291' MD and cemented with
approx. 26 bbls. cement. The well will then be perforated with coil tubing conveyed guns.
Well Control: - BC)P diagram is attached.
- Pipe rams, blind rams and the CT pack off will be pressure tested to 400 psi and to 4000 psi.
- The annular preventer will be tested to 400 psi and 2000 psi.
Directional: - See attachments.
- Kick Off: 8,975' MD (8,585' TVD ss)
- TD: 11,675' MD (8,799' TVD ss)
- Magnetic and inclination surveys will be taken every 30 ft. No gyro will be run.
Logging: · A Gamma Ray log will be run over all of the open hole section.
· Phase resistivity log will be run in open hole prior to running the liner.
Mud and Cuttings disposal:
All waste mud and cuttings will be injected at the CC2 facility.
Drilling Hazards:
No faults are lost circulation zones are expected on this sidetrack.
