Commissioner Dan Seamount 1 n , Alaska Oil and Gas Commission l 1 9 333 West 7 Avenue, Suite 100 CJ Anchorage, AK 99501 — Vi/ o Commissioner Dan Seamount: Enclosed please find a spreadsheet with a list of wells from the Kuparuk field (KRU). Each of these wells was found to have a void in the conductor. These voids were filled with cement and corrosion inhibitor, engineered to prevent water from entering the annular space. As per previous agreement with the AOGCC, this letter and spreadsheet serves as notification that the treatments took place and meets the requirements of form 10 -404, Report of Sundry Operations. The cement was pumped September 11, 2011. The corrosion inhibitor /sealant was pumped August 15, 2012. The attached spreadsheet presents the well name, top of cement depth prior to filling, and volumes used on each conductor. Please call MJ Loveland or Martin Walters at 907 - 659 -7043, if you have any questions. Sincerely, MJ Lov land ConocoPhillips Well Integrity Projects Supervisor • • ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc. (;ornrnis~,ie~ Anc~horag~ ' ANALYSIS OF WELL PROXIMITY WATER SOURCE WELL NO. 8 NOTE' Refer to the attached proximity map. WSW-8/1B-3 The proposed Well WSW-8 will cross the existing Well 1B-3 by a distance of 114' at a measured depth of 2103' (in 1B-3) and 2085' (in WSW-8). This distance was calculated using the Gyro multi-shot survey on 1B-3'and the proposed course for WSW-8. Well 1B-3 has an ellipse of uncertainty of 8~2' across its major axis at the depth at which the crossing occurs. WSW-8 will have an ellipse of uncer- tainty of 72' across its major axis at the depth of interest. The areas of uncertainty for the two wells will therefore not intersect. ARCO proposes that the following procedures be used to drill WSW-8 safely past the above crossing. 1. The 13-1/2" surface hole will be continuously surveyed to its total depth using a Teleco tool and single shot surveys. 2. Well 1B-3 will be shut-in if calculations show that a crossing 77' or less is to occur. This distance corresponds to the intersection of the areas of uncertainty. Upon shutting in, casing and tubing pressures would be monitored until a safe crossing is evident. 3. If calculations show that a crossing of 77' or less is to occur, a deflection tool will be run to increase the crossing distance. In addition to the above precautions, the on-site rig personnel and supervi- sors will continuously monitor all parameters as the interval of interest is drill ed. ~ ~ [ ~ I VE~ NOV 0 9 Alaska 0ii & Gas Cons, Commission Anchorage Also, ARCO Alaska, Inc., proposes to drill Water Source Well (WSW) No. 8 on 60' spacing adjacent to existing WSW No. 7, as shown on the attached wellbore proximity plot. WSW No. 7 is vertical to 500' and WSW No. 8 will be vertical to 1100'. At these points the areas of uncertainty of the individual well surveys would be 4' and 8' in diameter, respectively. This is based upon typical field-observed accuracies for the surveying tools utilized. Assuming a worst-case situation, the areas of uncertainty would not intersect or overlap one another. Further, after reaching these points, the subject wellbores are directionally drilled at diverging angles further widening the margin of safety. In light of the above, we feel we can safely drill Water Source Well No. 8 and avoid proximity problems with the adjacent wellbore. RBG-JG'sm 11/08/82 GRU2/AWP1 ,, o o 0 0 ~ 0 0 0 0 0 0 ! iii i!
