1. Sk-18lP compressor shut down because of a High level V-220 that initated a stop production
2. Sk-18lP compressor (K-205) was shut down due to excessive noise after restart.
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. Flaring was permitted to continue while GC operations personnel attempted to reset stop production
and restart the equipment. Z, l & V pads SID at same time.
2. Flaring was permitted to continue while GC operations personnel attempted to start off-line

First Determination of Cause:
1. High gas transit line pressure caused by CGF compressor 1801 shut down due to bad RTD card that
signaled a false high bearing temperature SID.
2. High gas transit line pressure caused by CGF compressor 1801 shut down due to bad power supply
card. Slug catcher flared due to high transit gas pressure.
3. High gas transit line pressure caused by CGF compressor 1801 shut down due to bad power supply
card. Slug catcher flared due to high transit gas pressure.
4. High gas transit line pressure caused by CGF compressor 1801 going down due to a bad RTD card.
5. High gas transit line pressure caused by CGF compressor 1801 going down due to a bad RTD card.
6. While bringing production rates up following CGF problem, LPS compressors exceeded maximum
gas capacity and discharged to flare. Seems ambient temperature has increased causing less
compressor efficiency
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. WOA reduced production rates and shut-in 30 wells equaling 500 mmscfd. EOA reduced production
rates and shut-in 18 wells equaling 500 mmscfd. Wells were shut-in or choked back starting at 1143

> An extended flare incident occurred on March
I, 2003 at GC2. The Skid 18 LP compressor shutdown because of a high level
on the knockout vessel which in turn initiates a stop production for that
part of the facility. The incoming rate to the plant was immediately reduced
from 1 BCFPD to 450 MMSCFPD and flaring was initiated off of the 3rd stage
vessels. Assist gas was started to prevent black smoke. The compressor was
down for 3 hrs, 16 mins and 681 MSCF was flared while repeated attempts were
made to restart the machine. After restart, the machine was shut back down
due to excessive noise. The machine was down a 2nd time for 1 hr and 24 mins
and 292 MSCF was flared. Total flare time was 4 hours and 40 minutes. Total
flare volume was 973 MSCF.

First Determination of Cause:
1. Produced water leak initated reduction in rate to be able to repair the leak. Sk-18 LP compressor
shut down because of a problem associated with low gas rates in the plant.
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. WOA reduced production rates and shut-in 90 wells equaling 660mmscfd. Wells were shut-in or
choked back starting at 1450 hours.

> An extended flare incident occurred on May
19-20, 2003 at GC2. The plant was shutdown for ESD testing. The LP & IP
compressors compress gas from the 2nd and 3rd stage vessels. Because of the
reduced flow through the facility, these compressors did not have enough gas
to stay running and in order to prevent overpressuring the vessels, the only
option is for this gas to be flared (this automatically occurs as the vessel
pressure increases). Additional gas rate was put back online until enough
gas rate was flashing off of the 2nd and 3rd stage vessels to keep the IP &
LP compressors online. Total flare time was 20 hours and 6 minutes, total
flare volume was 4187 MSCF.

> An extended flare incident occurred on May
25, 2003 at GC2. The produced water section of the plant was shutdown due to
a corrosion failure on the discharge piping. When this occurred, all of the
produced water flow had to be shutin, 90 wells and 660 MM/D was shut in. As a
result, there was not enough gas off of the 2nd and 3rd stage vessels to
keep the LP & IP compressors loaded and running the full time. After the
initial rate was shutin, we moved dry wells from LP to HP, and from GCl HP
to GC2 HP to keep enough gas flashing off of the final stage separators to
keep the LP and IP compressors running. Total flare time was 4 hours and 27
minutes (note, there was intermittent flaring during this period, most of
the time the IP & LP compressors were running) , total flare volume was 556
MSCF.

From:
Hal Tucker, GPB Prod Optim Team Leader, 907-659-4472
An extended flare incident occurred on June 02, 2003 at GC2. The
produced water section of the plant was shutdown due to a low level in the
surge drum. Following the shut down, a flange leak developed in the produced
water header relief piping. As a result of being unable to re-start the
produced water section until the flange leak was repaired, the surge tank
level climbed to maximum as all high water cut wells were being shut in.
That production cut caused the IP and LP compressors to trip due to low gas
volumes. Once the surge tank level stabilized we begin to re-establish
enough dry production to re-start the IP and LP compressors. Total flare
time was 4 hours and 8 minutes, total flare volume was 513 MSCF.
If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call
me.

> An extended flare event occurred on October 9, 2003. GC2
experienced a plant upset which caused D Bank to shutdown. This in turn
caused the LP & IP compressors to shutdown at midnight due to reduced gas
rate. The IP compressor was restarted at 03:56. Shutting in additional rate
would have reduced the gas available to this compressor and would have
prolonged the restart & lengthened the time of flare. The LP compressor was
restarted after 08:40, then it shutdown again at 09:49 and finally restarted
and stayed running at 11:50. Volume flared from midnight to 08:40 was 5417
MSCF and the volume flared from 09:49 to 11:50 was 1260 MSCF for a total of
6677 MSCF.
