Just a FYI:
At 3:15 am yesterday, we discovered a naptha leak from the overhead condenser at the
Kuparuk Topping Plant. The unit was shut down, and the condenser was bled down. As a
result, we flared for 3 hours and 35 minutes with a volume of 373 MSCF. If you have any
questions or want more information, give me a call.

CPF-1 Shutdown
Jim and Steve,
Just wanted to give you a 'heads up' that we are scheduled to take down
CPF-1 and associated drillsites at 6:00am on Weds, July 28th. The
purpose of the shutdown is to replace inlet valves, perform upgrades for
increased West Sak development, facilitate other mechanical integrity
repairs and perform a test of the plant ESD system. In addition, the
Primary Separator will be taken out of service for inspection and repair.
We plan to bring the plant back on at 6:00am Monday, August 2nd. The
primary separator will remain out of service for an additional 42 days.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please do
not hesitate to contact me.

sent to the McGill Emergency Flare. Black smoke was observed
being emitted from the flare, and an EPA Method 9 observation
was performed. As shown by the attached results, the opacity
readings taken from the flare exceeded the limits specified by
DPF1 Title V permit conditions 3(a) and 3(b). In order to reduce
the volume of gas being sent to the McGill flare, a total of 19 wells
were shut in.
Electrical/lnstrumentation malfunction, a GLC tripped due to
instrument malfunction
Facility Maintenance, The plant needed to be shutdown and
depressured to remove blinds from the primary separator. A plant
blow down was initiated to depressure. The primary was taken
down for planned maintenance. The blinds had been installed
during the July 28 full plant shutdown.
Facility maintenance, Process upset in gas section of facility,
Flaring started during the depressuring of the nitrogen used for
pressure testing and oxygen purging of the plant after a planned
shutdown. 290,000 scf of the flare volume was this nitrogen.
