An extended flare event occurred on April 11,
2004. Both FSl LPS compressors (15-1803/1804) shut down unexpectedly
during ESD testing (only 1804 was supposed to shut down). Four
attempts were made to restart 15-1803, with no success. Finally
15-1804 was restarted and loaded up. Total volume flared was 32,200
MSCF, over a 2 hour and 25 minute duration. A total of 12 wells were
shut-in and 1 well was choked to minimum, cutting the FSl gas rate by
176 MMSCFD.
If you require additional information, please
don't hesitate to call me.

From: Michael Bolkovatz, GPB Prod Optim Team Leader, 907-659-5566
An extended flare event occurred beginning at 14:25 on May 17, 2004 at FS1. CGF Tandem 1883
shutdown on a false fire & gas BESD (blowdown) switch resulting in a high pressure on the gas
transit header. Per normal upset response, we flared at FS 1 to maintain the gas transit header
pressure. FS1 flaring lasted for 1 hr, 12 mins until the CGF tandem was restarted. FS1 shutin a total
of 170 MMSCFPD during the flaring to reduce the pressure on the header. Total gas flared was
9,000 MSCF.
If you require additional information, please do not hesitate to call me.

Several extended flare events occurred in the past few
weeks at GPB. This is a note giving you a courtesy "heads up" on the
greater than one hour flare events you will be seeing in the monthly gas
disposition reports prepared by the Anchorage Volume Accounting Team_
* GC3 experienced three flare events on June 24, 25 and 26 due to
K5500 shutting down on high lube oil temperature. Temperature probes,
RTD's and switches were changed out during the three days in attempts to
eliminate that root cause of the shut downs. K5500 procedures were
followed to minimize flaring. Total volume for the three events was
1,261 MSCF, total duration for the three events was 7 hours and 17
minutes.
* ~experienced one extended flare event beginning at 10:00 June
17 and ~g at 02:45 June 18 when the 1801 STV/IP compressor shut down
due to high ambients. Several attempts were made to restart and reload
the machine. Total flare volume for the event was 8,491 MSCF over 16
hours and 45 minutes.
* GC2 experienced two flare events on May 30 and 31 due to PLC
malfunction in the produced water section of the plant. The production
cuts resulting from the water section upset caused the skid 18, IP and
LP compressors to surge intermittently due to the low GC oil rate. The
compressors loaded up as GC2 oil rates returned to normal. Total volume
for the two events was 920 MSCF, total duration was 5 hours and 31
minutes.
* CGF experienced two flare events on June 17 and 18. The first
event occurred when the 1884 tandem shut down 3 times due to high
ambient temperatures over a 2 hour period. Each shut down resulted in 15
minutes of flaring. This event should have been captured as three
separate flaring events and should not be considered as a greater than
one hour event. The second event occurred when the 1805 MI compressor
shut down a recycle trip while loading the boosters. Flaring stopped
when 1805 was restarted. Total duration for the 1805 event was 1 hour
and 14 minutes, total volume was 8,677 MSCF.
* LPC experienced one flare event on June 17 when the 1808 gas
reinjection turbine shut down. Flaring stopped when 1808 was restarted.
lof2
6/28/20047:02 AM
GPB Flaring Incidents
"Gas was cut during the event to reduce flare volume. Total duration for
the event was 1 hour and 16 minutes, total volume was 5,804 MSCF.
* FS3 experienced two flare events on June 17 and June 20. The
first event occurred when the 1801 STV/IP compressor shut down due to
high ambients and plant upsets. After three failed restart attempts, the
spare machine (1802) was started, ending the flare event. Total duration
for this event was 1 hour and 10 minutes, total volume was 466 MSCF. The
second event occurred when the 1806 gas lift machine shut down due to
instrumentation problems. 1806 was secured and depressured, ending the
flare event. Total duration of the event was 6 hours of intermittent
flaring totaling 685 MSCF.

A planned extended flare event occurred on July 31, 2004. The
1802 STV/IP compressor was shutdown in order to perform a
planned major overhaul on the machine and upgrade the system
controls. Operations personnel were unable to safely isolate this
machine from the plant without also shutting down the other STV/IP
compressor 1801. Both STV/IP compressors were shutdown in
order to blind off 1802. Once the blinding was completed on 1802,
TIC 1801 was restarted and the flaring event ended. TIC 1801
shutdown for unknown reasons 35 minutes after it was started. It
was down an additional 55 minutes. Total volume flared was 7,359
MSCF over an 8 hour and 33 minute duration.
If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call

An extended unplanned flare event occurred on August 6 & 7
at FS1. The 1802 STV/IP compressor was blinded off on
July 31 for a system controls upgrade. The remaining
STV/IP compressor 1801 shutdown on August 6 & 7 due to
high ambient temperatures which caused the compressor to
unload. On August 6, the flare lasted 1 hr, 17 mins (3 events)
and total flared was 1,721 MSCF. On August 7, the flare
lasted 5 hrs, 1 min (2 events) and total flared was 8,049
MSCF.

Gas Disposition
Gary,
Last month I email you about some additional data for some facility high volumes.
I haven't heard from you on these GC-3 and 2 request about GPMA.
Sept 2004, I found 1 event at FS-t on Sept 16 that I think is an error, it is only
43 minutes.

From: Michael Bolkovatz, GPB Prod Optim Team Leader, 907-659-5566
An extended flaring event occurred 12/16 at FS-1. Turbine Compressor 1801 quit
running due to a main lube oil pressure problem. The backup compressor, 1802 was
started as quickly as possible. No attempts were made to reduce flaring (ie; SI
production) since weather conditions were -10 deg and Phase II visibility. Flaring
occurred over 1 hr, 50 mins and a total volume of 1978 MSCF was flared.
If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me.
