From: Dwight Warner, GPB Field Optimization Engineer for
Hal Tucker, GPB Prod Optimization Team Leader
An extended flaring event occurred on February 10, 2007.
GC1 went into flare due to high transit gas line pressure when a fuse failed at
CGF on the Boosters 1801 and 1802 which caused them to shutdown. W OA
reduced production rates and shut -in 22 wells equaling 1000 mmscfd. EOA
reduced production rates and shut -in 13 wells equaling 1500 mmscfd. Wells
were shut -in or choked back starting at 1340 hours. Flaring occurred from
1340 hrs to 1545 hrs (125 minutes), total volume flared was 26042 MSCF.
If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me.

From Hal Tucker, GPB Prod Optimization Team Leader
Three extended flaring events occurred last week at Greater Prudhoe Bay.
An extended flaring event occurred on April 16 at GC1 when the test bank
flare controller was found to be set incorrectly. Flaring continued while
operations personnel troubleshot their equipment. Flaring occurred from 1700
to 1920 (140 minutes), total volume flared was 1944 MSCF.
FS1 experienced a planned flaring event on April 25 during the LPS turbine
1804 water wash. Flaring occurred from 0944 to 1046 (62 minutes), total
volume flared was 258 MSCF.
An extended, intermittent flaring event occurred at FS2 on April 25 when
STV /IP turbine compressor 1802 shut down due to a controller /instrumentation
failure associated with an electrical panel. Flaring occurred from 1435 to 1602
(87 minutes), total volume flared was 362 MSCF.
If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me.

Extended flaring events occurred last week at Greater Prudhoe Bay at FS1,
GC1 and GC2.
The FS1 event occurred June 12 during plant restart operations. Flaring
occurred until sufficient gas was brought into the plant to load up the
compressors. Flaring occurred from 20:00 to 22:06 (126 minutes), total volume
flared was 3499 MSCF.
GC1 flared from 20:19 to 22:30 (131 minutes) on June 11. The flaring occurred
when the Annex shut down due to a C -bank level transmitter failure. Total
volume flared was 1365 MSCF.
On June 11 GC2 flared for 18 minutes. However, the flared volume exceeded
5000 MSCF. This event occurred when both LPS turbine /compressors tripped
to minimum during a process automation upset. The machines had to be
manually reloaded to end the flaring event. Total volume flared was 6875
MSCF.

Extended flaring events occurred at GC1 on July 2nd while dewatering the new oil transit line after hydro
testing. This event occurred during the initial startup procedure and was corrected by moving flow to C-

An extended flaring event occurred at GC1 on 7/13/07 when the inverter on the Uninterruptible Power
Supply (UPS) system failed. When the inverter failed the majority of the plant shut down, the remaining
production was insufficient to enable the LP compressor to remain loaded. Intermittent flaring occurred
during the troubleshooting and restart process. Flaring ended when sufficient production was brought on
to generate enough LP gas to enable the LP compressor to remain loaded.
Intermittent flaring began on 7/13 at 1336 and ended at 0156 on 7/14 (12 hrs and 20 minutes), total
volume flared was 5886 MSCF.

An extended flaring event occurred at GC1 on 7/15/07 when the test bank was changed from high
pressure mode to low pressure mode. Concurrently, maintenance pigging operations were in progress
resulting in an unusual valve configuration. De- pressuring the test bank and its associated piping took
longer than normal under this configuration.
Flaring began at 2039 and ended at 2345 (186 minutes), total volume flared was 646 MSCF.

An extended flaring event occurred at GC1 on August 25. Flaring occurred on V -120A because of the low
gas rates after TAPS initiated proration of 17% due to them having trouble getting the pipeline started
after planned maintenance. Not enough gas was being produced for the LP compressors to be able to
maintain forward flow. GC1 flaring event began at 22:04 and ended at 23:59 (115 minutes), with a total
volume flared of 271 MSCF.

An extended flaring event occurred across GPB on September 3. Flaring in excess of 5,000 MSCF
occurred at CGF, FS1, GC1, GC2 and GC3 when CCP unexpectedly shut down two high stage
compressors while "de- mobilizing" obsolete, turbine, control panels. During the de- mobilization process
an incorrect wire was lifted, resulting in an ESD of two of the four high stage compressors. GPB shut in 2
MMMSCF /d of production to get out of flare. The following volumes were flared at each plant during the
event: CGF 8,400; FS1 12,865; GC1 6,475; GC2 4,167; and GC3 6,771 (all volumes MSCF) . Flare
duration was less than one hour at all facilities.

Multiple extended flaring events occurred at GPB during the last week.
Two extended flaring events occurred at FS1 on 10/1 and 10/2 for planned maintenance on their LPS
machines. On 10/1 LPS machine 1803 was shut down for water washing. Total duration was 20 hours
and 19 minutes, total volume was 4,385 MSCF. The second event occurred on 10/2, for the same activity
on 1804. Total duration was 14 hours and 28 minutes, total volume was 1,293 MSCF.
FS2 water washed their LPS machine (1803) on 10/4. Total flare duration was 4 hours and 26 minutes,
total volume was 924 MSCF.
On 10/5, GC1 had two extended flaring events. The first event took place to de- pressure a flowline to
make PSV repairs Total duration was 10 hours and 27 minutes of intermittent flaring which resulted in a
total flared volume of 871 MSCF. A second event occurred when ambient temperatures increased. 100
MMSCF /d of production was cut to stop flaring. Total duration of this event was 84 minutes, total volume
was 875 MSCF.
The LPC facility flared for 97 minutes during the restart process following planned ESD safety system
testing on 9/30. Total volume for this event was 97 MSCF.
Extended flaring events occurred at GC2 on October 3, 4 and 5 during restart activities following a
lengthy, planned, full plant turn- around. Flaring occurred off the LP compressor until sufficient rate was
brought on to enable the LP machine to load up and remain loaded (common to all three events).
Following the turn - around restart, GC2 was shut down for planned ESD testing, creating an additional
extended flaring event. A summary of the flaring events follows:
10/3 Initial restart 21 hrs, 49 min 12,726 MSCF
10/34 Intermittent 22 hrs, 30 min 16,014 MSCF
10/5 Following ESD 8 hrs, 0 min 7,778 MSCF

An extended flaring event occurred at GC1 on October 21st when CGF had both boosters shut down
resulting in high transit line pressure which went to flare. The WOA flared off the annex wet gas flare valve.
WOA reduced production rates and shut -in 13 wells (312 mmscfd). Flaring began at 10:25 and ended at
11:16 (51 minutes). Total volume flared was 9846 MSCF.
An extended flaring event occurred at GC1 on October 22nd during copus spin cooling on LPS K -7001
compressor for maintenance. Flaring began at 03:18 and ended at 06:04 (166 minutes). Total volume
flared was 678 MSCF.
An extended flaring event occurred at CGF on October 20th when TIC -1855 shutdown for unplanned
maintenance (rub on GG lube oil tine). This caused the stabilizer overhead to go to flare. The flare volume
is estimated due to the totalizer not working. A work order has been written for repair. The tandem
compressor was fully loaded, process changes were made to reduce flaring while the maintenance was
performed. The unit was then repaired, restarted, and loaded. Flaring began at 10:42 and ended at 12:02
(80 minutes). Total volume flared was 2700 MSCF.

On 11/30/07 two flaring events occurred which exceeded the 5000 mscf reporting threshold. The events were caused
by Toss of the CGF front end boosters due to a bad fuse on the fuel gas system. Loss of these boosters requires a gas
cut of approximately 900 mmscfd. The flaring occurred at GC1 and FS1. GC1 flaring began at 1437 and ended at
1508 (31 minutes), with a total volume of 6458 mscf. FS1 flaring began at 1440 and ended at 1535 (55 minutes), with
a total volume of 9548 mscf.

On December 7 beginning at 7:55 am, an extended flaring event happened at Prudhoe Bay. A power substation serving
CCP went down, causing most of CCP and CGF to shut down. The gas transit line pressured up and all facilities feeding
CCP and CGF went to flare (LPC was not affected). After being restored, the substation went down again. Here is a
breakdown of flare volumes for each facility. Duration is total duration over both substation failures.

Flaring began at 7:55 and was intermittent through as late as 20:00 at CGF, the last facility to be restored to power. CCP
substation was washed that day. followed by CGF and the seawater plants. All substations are in the process of being
washed again after the recent windstorm caused dirtying of the insulators from flying dirt/dust/gravel (not enough snow
cover).
