GC3 wet gas compressor K -5500 shutdown due to high differential pressure across the lube oil filters. Due to the ambient temperature ( -10 deg), and adhering to the K -5500 wet gas compressor standard operating procedure for winter conditions, the decision was made to not shut in high watercut wells after the first hour. The lube oil filters were replaced and the machine was restarted. Flaring occurred from 2334 hrs on 1/20 to 0140 hrs on 1/21 (126 minutes), total volume flared was 272 MSCF. The event occurred at GC3 on March 28. GC3 shut down due to a data highway communication problem. The water section remained on line to inject water coming from GC1 to the GC3 waterflood patterns. The source of the flaring was "sweep gas" used to eliminate H2S build up in the skim tank. Flaring occurred from 1712 hrs on 3/28 to 0129 hrs on 3/29 (496 minutes), total volume flared was 863 MSCF. Flaring in excess of 5,000 MSCF occurred at CGF, FS1, GC1, GC2 and GC3 when CCP unexpectedly shut down two high stage compressors while "de- mobilizing" obsolete, turbine, control panels. During the de- mobilization process an incorrect wire was lifted, resulting in an ESD of two of the four high stage compressors. GPB shut in 2 MMMSCF /d of production to get out of flare. The following volumes were flared at each plant during the event: CGF 8,400; FS1 12,865; GC1 6,475; GC2 4,167; and GC3 6,771 (all volumes MSCF) . The choke on will X -27 needed to be repaired /replaced which required a full plant shut down of the pad. X -pad was shut down, depressured, the choke was repaired and the pad was brought back on line. Flaring began at 0640 and ended at 0745 (65 minutes). The total volume flared was 300 MSCF. On 11/28/07 an extended flaring event occurred at GC2. The I- compressor K -207 shut down due to problems associated with vibration. Flaring continued while GC personnel attempted to restart the equipment. Two restarts were attempted on K -207, but were not successful, K -208 was stated and put on -line. The large dirt/contamination caused flashover that damagaed the CPS yard step -up transformer T -6 and caused the severe voltage sags and surges to go throughout the entire GPB power grid and shutdown numerous pieces of equipment at some of the facilities causing flaring. Shown below are the totals for each facility and the longest duration of any flaring event due to the outage at the respective facility. FS1: 86,656 MSCF 5 hr T/C 1802, 1803 and 1804 flare reports GC1: 19,479 MSCF 85 min GC3: 892 MSCF 4 hr 17 min Total volume flared related to this event: 107,027 MSCF On December 14 beginning at 20:45 am, an extended flaring event happened at Prudhoe Bay. A substation at CCP /CGF surged /shorted which caused CGF to loose all power and the FS1 annex to shut down. This also resulted in flaring at some of the other facilities.
