On January 19 extended flaring occurred off the IP and LP compressors due to low plant oil rate. Plant oil rate was down due to level valve maintenance on D -slug catcher. The event duration was 282 minutes, with a total flared volume of 4700 MSCF. On January 21 extended flaring occurred off the LP compressors due to low plant oil rate. Plant oil rate was down to repair a PSV in the PW plant. Flare duration was 1259 minutes, with a total flared volume of 18,360 MSCF. On January 23 extended flaring occurred off the LP compressors due to low plant oil rate. Plant oil rate was reduced due to fuel gas repairs on the K7000 LPS turbine /compressor. The situation was exacerbated when L -pad shut down due to a Fire and Gas system failure and the main produced water pump shut down due to high vibration, both during phase Ill weather conditions. Flare duration was 1027 minutes, with a total flared volume of 17,830 MSCF. The low oil rates from the January 23 events, continued through January 27, resulting in extended flaring events during that time. 1/24 flare duration 1019 minutes, volume 9,900 MSCF 1/25 flare duration 1440 minutes, volume 12,991 MSCF 1/26 flare duration 1424 minutes, volume 12,856 MSCF 1/27 flare duration 96 minutes, volume 867 MSCF The event ended on 1/27 at 03:23 when the B- Sulzer was brought on line following completion of seal repairs GC3 also had an extended flaring event during this time frame. The event was caused when K7000 LPS turbine /compressor shut down due to an instrumentation problem. GC3 shut in 14 wells, totaling 75 MMSCFD to get out flare. The event occurred on January 27, beginning at 07:56, ending at 09:16 (80 minutes). Total volume flared was 1,319 MSCF. If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me. Flaring occurred on the K -205/K -208 compressors due to surging from high gas transit pressure. The area operator worked to load the compressors and EOA and WOA reduced the transit pressure by cutting gas rates. The flaring event began at 01:08 and ended at 02:20 (72 minutes), the total volume flared was 1250 MSCF. If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me. The first event is a follow up to the flaring events at GC2 described in Dwight Warner's April 14 e -mail. GC2 continued to experience intermittent flaring from K205/K208 through April 14 and 15 until 12:13 AM on April 16 when sufficient process heat was restored to enable second and third stages to break out enough gas to allow K205/K208 to maintain forward flow. Process heat, from the turbine /compressor K7000 Waste Heat Recovery Unit, was restored once repairs to the combustion section of K7000 were completed. The damage to the combustion section was discovered during routine maintenance. During the flaring event, operations cut total field gas rate and gas rates at all 3 GC's to reduce the back pressure on K205. Additionally, process changes (decreased gas cooler temperature to increase condensate yield, and increased suction KO drum temperature to increase flashed gas) were made to increase the available gas volume to the suction of K205. These changes enabled K205 to intermittently attain forward flow and thus reduce flare volumes. Flare duration and volume [in addition to what Dwight has already reported] were 46 hours 23 minutes and 50,175 MSCF. For approximately 23 hours of that duration, flaring was intermittent. An extended event occurred at GC1 on April 19. The event was part of the turbine cool down procedure in preparation for routine water washing. The flaring event began at 1658 and ended at 1840 (102 minutes), the total volume flared was 3,188 MSCF. The third event, which occurred at FS1 on April 19, is being reported at your request. This event had a volume of greater than 5,000 MSCF. Turbine /compressor 1804 shut down on a vibration alarm. The flaring event began at 0627 and ended at 0720 (53 minutes), the total volume flared was 6,592 MSCF. If you require additional information, please don't hesitate to call me. The flaring began at 00:00 and ended at 24:00 (1440 minutes), total volume flared was 73 MSCF. This event began 8/10; total volume flared to date is 365 MSCF. Vessel work is ongoing. GC1 flare whilst depressurizing C slugcatcher, 8/16 An extended flaring event occurred at GC2 on 8/16 in preparation for a planned TAR. The C slugcatcher was used to de- pressure LDFs from E and G -pads; the gas remaining once the slugcatcher had been drawn down to the lowest pressure possible with the LP compressors was flared, between 01:04 and 02:39, a total volume of 660 MSCF. GC2 flare during TAPS pro- ration, 8/16 An extended flaring event occurred at GC2 on 8/16 during the TAPS pro- ration. In order to meet the 36% pro- ration, rate was cut, reducing the flow to the LP compressor to such a degree that it shut down. Wells were re- routed to bring more gas to GC2, and the compressors were successfully restarted. Flaring took place between 14:12 and 15:57, a total volume of 1094 MSCF. GC2 flare during slugcatcher PSV work, 8/16 An extended flaring event occurred at GC2 on 8/16 during work on the B slugcatcher PSVs. The slugcatcher was de- pressured, and flaring took place between 08:20 and 09:00, a total volume of 556 MSCF. The flaring ceased when the slugcatcher was depressured. The compressor was reloaded and flaring ended. The flaring began at 14:32 and ended at 18:07 (215 minutes), total volume flared was 1,929 MSCF. An extended flaring event occurred at FS1 on October 3 when the STV third stage did not close. The gas operator was able to get valve to operate to correctly. The flaring began at 08:00 and ended at 10:00 (120 minutes), total volume flared was 1,814 MSCF. An extended flaring event occurred at GC2 on October 3 went the IP compressor and LP compressors shutdown in skid 18. The compressors were reloaded and flaring ended. This was caused by a loss of electrical power to the CGF utilities section at approximately 20:58, which caused the tandems and booster compressors to shut down on high lube oil temperature. This increased the transit gas pressure, and several facilities (listed below) were forced to flare. Rate was reduced by shutting in high gas wells until CCP could handle the gas load from the field. The cause of the electrical shutdown is under investigation. CGF began coming back online at approximately 00:10, and was fully operational by approximately 09:00 on 10/15/08. The event lasted for 600 minutes. The cause was by multiple electrical and instrument problems related to problems with the UPS power system. As a result the K -5500 wet gas compressor shut down. Assist gas was added to mitigate black smoke, and water production was reduced to reduce flared volumes. K -5500 was successfully restarted and flaring ceased. An extended gas flaring event took place at GC2 starting at 10/18/2008 15:01 and stopping at 10/18/2008 15:43 with a volume of 233 (MSCF). The event was a black smoke event. This is thought to be due to a leak into the fuel gas system. Assist gas was used to stop black smoke. The leak is being troubleshooted, and a replacement valve is ordered and due for delivery imminently. Please contact me if you have any questions. The event lasted for 632 minutes. This was due to a glitch in the SCADA system that sent a command to shut down all the well pads at GC2. This resulted in a shutdown of GC2. Vent gas was taken from the transit gas system to ensure tanks were kept clear of oxygen, and assist gas was required to ensure a clean burning flare. Flaring ceased when the facility was restarted.
