Our annual PM's on each Injection Gas (IG) compressor generally occur in the summer of each year. We do have the option to perform heavy maintenance on either IG compressor anytime in the year since we have two machines. Lube oil usage and discharge temperatures currently drive maintenance inspections. 2. In the past we have monitored oil usage on distance pieces as criteria on when perform maintenance on packings. 3. Several items can effect gas bypass on packings including operating pressure, injection pressure, operating temperature and overall run time on the compressor. Since my last email, we continue to research ideas on monitoring gas bypass on packings. My Plant Engineer is looking into installing window sight flow indicators on each cylinder distance piece vent line of the compressors so we can monitor gas flow on our daily rounds. It shows how the distance piece vents on the Injection Gas (IG) compressors have had the case vent lines plumbed directly to the Low Pressure (LP) flare header versus going to atmospheric roof vents. Two tests in have been performed, one in 2012 and one in 2013 to ensure that the IG compressors are the source of the flare gas we are seeing in the reports. Our Instrument Tech installed a vent hose off the LP drain hear downstream of the distance piece vent header and closed the block valve going to the LP flare. Once the block valve was closed, the gas flaw to flare stopped. From these tests, it was determined to include the language you see in the flare reports "Small, LP flare volume coming from the IG compressors packing case vents". Please see trend we created from ambient air temps and daily flare gas volume. Let's discuss when you have a moment. Goode Trend: Flare We have started a new work order to track down which cylinders are producing the most vent gas to flare so we quantify which cylinders are venting the most gas. 1 want to close with making sure you understand we are not purposely flaring gas to increase throughput of oil. We have limited gas at Badami to begin with and have to purchase fuel gas from Endicott at certain times.
