0701 Turbine shut down due to high pressure
differential on th inlet air filters during Phase 3 weather
conditions. This cascaded into a gas compression
shutdown.
While bdnging the plant back on line, a high high level
in the Oil Reserve Tank caused a full field shutdown,
# of Events: 2--.__._„_
Maintenance was called and the purge on the gas
compressors and 1 train was started.
Maintenance was called and BPXA worked to bring the

Subject: Northstar Planned Flaring Events June 2 - 5 and June 9
To: Dave Roby, AOGCC

Jennifer Hunt, AOGCC
BPXA is providing courtesy notification of planned flaring events of greater than one hour which occurred at the Northstar
Production Facility from June 2 through June 5, 2013 and then again on June 9, 2013.
The first event occurred at 20:12 hours on June 2 with the last event occurring at 09:23 hours on June 9. There were two
causes of these multiple flaring events. Flaring events from June 2 through June 5 were a result of the depressurizing of
Northstar well NS -07 through the test separator to unload it and bring it online. Approximately 1500 Bbl of water was
pumped down -hole during well work activities and it was necessary to lower the pressure in the test separator to get the
water to flow to the surface.
The two flaring events that occurred on June 9 were a result of the TAPS proration. As production rates slowed a
compressor unexpectedly tripped off-line as wells were shut in and it was necessary to flare .
Summary of planned flaring events:
June 2, 2013 (62.23 min, 187.69 MSCF)
June 3, 2013 (126.67 min, 500 MSCF)
June 3, 2013 (108.83 min, 552.55 MSCF)
June 4, 2013 (237.50 min, 968.56 MSCF)
June 5, 2013 (72.83 min, 270.83 MSCF)
June 5, 2013 (65.33 min, 242.33 MSCF)
June 5, 2013 (166.33 min, 802.38 MSCF)
June 9, 2013 (70.50 min, 615.35 MSCF)
June 9, 2013 (150.83 min, 788.29 MSCF)
All attempts were made with the intent to unload the well to allow natural flow. Flaring for this purpose was kept to a
minimum necessary to reduce well tubing pressure. Given these circumstances, we believe that we took all necessary
actions in accordance with good oil field engineering practices and conservation purposes to minimize the volume of gas
released, burned, or permitted to escape to the air. These volumes will also be reported to you on the Facility Report of
Produced Gas Disposition Form (Form 10-422).
Please let us know if you have any questions or require additional information.

BPXA is providing courtesy notification of 1 unplanned flaring event of greater than one hour which occurred at the
Northstar Production Facility on July 8, 2013. The unplanned event occurred from 16:17 to 17:18. Annual fire and gas
detection system testing was being conducted at the Northstar Facility to ensure integrity of the system. Test plans
included steps to prevent facility shut down during the functional testing. Due to miscommunication between the
operations team and the fire and gas inspection team, a fire pull station not in the test plan was activated, which resulted
in a facility shutdown and blow down of all gas in the facility.
Summary of unplanned flaring event:

BPXA is providing courtesy notification of planned flaring events of greater than one hour which occurred intermittently at
