1806 Shutdown Flare Event (January 25,1999)
The following information is a summary of the events which occurred prior to, during, and the
subsequent restart of the 1806 Artificial Lift Compressor Train.
1000 hrs 1806 discharge high temperature alarm.
1806 HP shaft RPM's were decreasing.
1010 hrs 1806 shutdown on compressor high discharge temperature.
* HP Flaring activity commenced.
1020 hrs 1806 initiated start attempt. No light off. No RPM beyond Starting Turbine cycle.
Fuel Gas valve opened, but no fuel gas was admitted.
Contacted Facility Instrumentation Technicians.
1035 hrs 1806 initiated another start attempt to be witnessed by Instrumentation Technicians.
Evaluation resulted in suspected failure of Fuel Gas Servo Valve Actuator.
1050 hrs Requested commencement of Facility gas cuts due to the anticipated duration to
accomplish repairs.
