First Determination of Cause:
1. Extended flaring event occurred during GC start-up operation as part of shutdown work when bringing up production
from B&C pads. Skid 18 I.P & L.P. gas compressors could not handle the low gas rates resulting from low oil rates as
production increase problems occurred.

Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. No response taken as this was deemed to be of short duration. Difficulties increasing plant oil rate lengthened the flaring

First Determination of Cause:
1. Extended flaring event occurred during GC3 shutdown/turnaround work .The volume of gas from B&C pads HP
production was too low to keep the Skid 18 IP & LP gas compressors on line.
2. While bringing production rates up following shutdown maintenance work on LPS compressor K-7001 had barn door
problems (sheared pin).
3. GC3 opened flare assist gas to minimize any potential of black smoke flaring until the LPS compressor was brought back
on line.
4.
5.
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. Ongoing efforts to increase oil production rate through the plant by attempting to get LPS compressors started. Plant
was kept on production near minimum rates to avoid need for full plant shutdown and safeout.
2. BPX stopped bringing production rates up. The GC informed PCC that the compressor would not be shutdown again to
troubleshoot problems. BPX shut in all L.P production at 1730 hours to stop flaring.
3. LPS K7001 compressor will be brought on line and flare assist gas will be closed.
