The Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) Compressor went down

DESCRIR ~ ~~N pF INCIDENT Accidental Natural Gas Release from the Badami Utility Gas
Pi aline.
1. Date anr! ~~ rrie: The release was confirmed on November 15, 1999, at 4:45 A.M.. !t is
suspected that the release started on November 13, 1999.
2. Location: Detailed Location:
The Accidental Natural Gas Release occurred on the pipellne that
Prudhoe ~~y Unit supplies Endicott natural gas to Badami for utility purposes. The
Endicott location of the release is approximately 9 miles East of the point where
Milne Point the Badami utility gas pipeline departs from the Endicott export pipelire.
Niakuk The release point is located between Vertical Support Members (VSM)
XX ether: Badami Utility Gas 825 and 826.
Pi aline
3. Volume i~f natural gas lost: At this time, the best estimate of the released volume is in the range of
30 to 50 mmscf/d, and the exact volume Continues to be refined.
4. Cause of la~~s: The cause is currently believed to be a circumferential crack in a girth
weld.
5. Actions tak.a~;i and planned The utility gas pipeline is currently isolated at every possible isolation
to prevent farther loss: point and will remain isolated until aA repairs are completed. The
pipeline has been isolated since confirmation of a loss of pressure in
the line- Planning is underway to provant further loss during repair.
f. Equipment ~ ~~ procedural The ongoing investigation will identify further equipment or procedural
changes to f?revent loss changes necessary to prevent recurrence.

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT & CAUSE
Problems while running the turbines in parallel caused a
power outage and brought down the entire plant and
production. After the power outage, the unloading wells
surged gas through the first stage separator.
