First Determination of Cause:
1. GC-2 was in a controlled shutdown condition with oil, gas and water rates slowly falling to a zero rate status. The low

CHECK ONE: FLARE/RELIEF VALVE: X RUPTURE DISK:_ CONTROLLED BLOWDOWN:_ OTHER:_
First Determination of Cause:
1. Sk-18 LP compressor shut down due to low gas rates when C-bank shutdown on hight level.
2. While bringing production rates up following C-bank shutdown, LPS compressors exceeded maximum gas capacity and
discharged to flare.
3. LPS compressor K-7000 shut down at 0306 hours because of a problem associated with high discharge temperature.
K-7000 was restarted at 0332 hours, but reloading was delayed to replace a shear pin in the barn door. K-7000 was
reloaded at 0408 hours.
4. Extended flaring event occurred while awaiting GC operator/maintenance evaluation on K7000 LPS compressor high
exhaust temp trouble.
5. High ambient temperature swings resulted in flaring and required cuts in production. Ambient temperature increased by
3°F.
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. Flaring was permitted to continue while GC operations personnel attempted to restart the equipment. The equipment
was restarted at 0118 hours as production rates were ramped up.
2. BPX stopped bringing production rates up until wells unloaded and flaring was ceased.
3. BPX reduced production rates and shut-in 61 wells equaling 300 mmscfd. Wells were shut-in or choked back starting at
0306 hours.
4. BPX reduced production rates and shut-in 6 wells equaling 20 mmscfd.
5. BPX reduced production rates and shut-in 4 wells equaling 15 mmscfd. Wells were shut-in or choked back starting at

CHECK ONE: FLARE/RELIEF VALVE: X RUPTURE DISK:_ CONTROLLED BLOWDOWN:_ OTHER:
First Determination of Cause:
1. Sk-18 LP compressor shut down because of a problem associated with false high level indication in V-235.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Action Taken to Stop Flaring:
1. Equipment was restarted at 20:09 hours. An oil cut of 20mbo was taken to keep down the VP. To completely stop the
flariing would be full plant s/d. Given the fact it was only temporary It was decided for safety reasons to keep plant
operating. Of the 20mm per day of flaring, only 5mm was from the plant. Assist gas was used to elinate black smoke
