Re: Beaver Creek Flaring, Januarlr 27 -February 4, 1997
Dear Mr. Babcock:
This is to confirm the flaring of casing head gas and gas well gas during the above referenced time periods.
The gas lift compressor was shut down for scheduled maintenance on January 27, -1997 at 0900 hours. The
maintenance inspection revealed problems with the crankshaft bearings. The bearings were replaced. Upon
startup, the compressor exhibited noise and vibration in the 4th stage cylinder, which resulted in continued
down time to identify and correct the problem. The compressor was brought back on line at 0000 hours,
February 4, 1997. During this unplanned downtime, gas wells BC-1A and BC-9 were utilized to supply lift gas
to the oil wells. The following shows flare for the period in which the compressor was down:

The gas lift compressor was shut down for scheduled maintenance on January 27, 1997 at 0900
hours. The maintenance inspection revealed problems with the crankshaft bearings. The bearings
were replaced. Upon startup, on 2/2/97, the compressor exhibited noise and vibration in the 4th
stage cylinder. The compressor was shut down and the rod alignments were re-checked in
addition to the re-inspection of the compressor components. During that inspection broken valves
were found in the suction and discharge of the fourth stage unit. Water was found in the suction
piping which was determined to have caused the problem with the suction. and discharge valves.
After the complete inspection of the compressor internals, replacement of the valves and re-
installation of piping and covers, the unit was restarted at 0000 hours on 2/4/97.
