Commission Anchorage Dear Ms. Mahan: GRANITE POINT PLATFORM EXCESS FLARE In response to your letter of October 3, 1995, the following information is provided about excess gas flared during the month of May 1995. During the period May 3 - 12, 1995 the Granite Point Tank Farm compressor was down (OSS Compressor referred to OnShore Site). Downtime was due to construction on the compressor piping and change out of the level gauges. Control valves were also added. From May 16 to 24 the Granite Point Platform was performing xylene treatments on some wells. The volume of gas flowing from the platform to the beach was insufficient to keep the compressor system working. Therefore, the compressor was shutin until the well work was completed. During the period May 30-31 a control booth was being installed for vessels (scrubbers, contactors, dehy unit) and transmitter switches and level gauge alarms were replaced. The May 21-29 event was due to a leaking valve on the interstage compressor on the Granite Point Platform. The gas compressor was shut down while the valve was replaced. When the compressor is out of service, gas cannot be shipped or reinjected. ... TOTAL P. 02 I spoke to Dusty Rhodes on the Anna platform on June 28, 1995 about the following events that were reported for February: 2/01-28/95 No gas sales There was no compressor at Granite Point Tank Farm to handle their gas sales. There is a new installation at GPTF now and they are selling their gas again. I asked what they do to minimize production and they said they do what they can with the gas lift. They didn't really do anything, didn't shut in any wells. I asked if they had any wells with high G.O.R.'s and he said no, that if they shut in any wells they'd lose oil production. I asked about well 22-13, which had a reported G.O.R. of 10,354 for February. He said that well only produced 22 BOPD and they had to shut it in again. I asked about a few events that were listed throughout the month and he couldn't give me any clear answers since it happened so long ago. I asked about a compressor that had 3 shutdowns during the month.
