This report documents the required information pertinent to the field development and enhanced recovery operations from January through December 1999. The following is an outline of the information provided: A summary of the enhanced recovery project (Attachment 1). Voidage balance, by month, of produced and injected fluids, including low molecular weight hydrocarbons (Attachment 2, Attachment 3). Analysis of reservoir pressure surveys taken in 1999 (Attachment 4). A tabulation of both injection (Attachment 5) and production (Attachment 6) logs and surveys analyzed during 1999 from wells in the Kuparuk permit area. Blue line and sepia copies have been previously sent to your office, following the completion of the surveys. Composition of enriched gas injected during 1999 as required by Administrative Approval No. 198.3, and estimate of MMP, Conservation Order 198B (Attachment 7). Commission Attachment 1 Kuparuk River Oil Pool 1998 Annual Surveillance Report Summary of the Enhanced Recovery Project ENHANCEDRECOVERY Miscible water-alternating-with-gas (MWAG) is the predominant EOR process at Kuparuk. Immiscible WAG (IWAG) still has a role in Kuparuk reservoir management. In 1999, Kuparuk injected an average of 249 MMSCFD of MI. Kuparuk used an average of 16 MBPD indigenous NGLs and imported 29 MBPD of NGLs from Prudhoe Bay to blend the MI. The incremental oil obtained from the EOR process at Kuparuk averaged 34 MBPD in 1999. MWAG Small Scale EOR (SSEOR and SSEORX) Drill Sites 1Y and 22 continue to be on MWAG as well as Drill Sites 1A and 2X (SSEORX drill sites). To date, approximately half of the ultimate tertiary reserves from these drill sites have been recovered. Pattern performance still substantiates the high value of MWAG at the Kuparuk field. Large Scale EOR (LSEOR) LSEOR has expanded the miscible gas injection process utilizing offsite enriching fluid (PBU NGL) blended with Kuparuk lean gas. The LSEOR project installation and start up was completed in 1996. Kuparuk's average MI (miscible injectant) injection rate increased from 65 MMSCFD to approximately 249 MMSCFD. The following drill sites are currently on MWAG: 2A, 2B, 2C, 2H, 2M, 2T, 2U, 2V, 2W, 2X, 22, IA, IF, IG, IR, 1Y and 3F. MWAG injection commenced at Drill Site 1 F in August 1999 and at Drill Site 2C in December 1 999. CPF-3 EOR Expansion of the MWAG process to a CPF-3 drill site became operational in December 1996. In 1999, an average of 14 MMSCFD of MI was injected into Drill Site 3F. EOR Expansions An NGL pump upgrade was installed in March of 1999. The NGL pump upgrade would have increased the PBU NGL imports to 36 MBPD in 1999; however, due to the reservoir pressure increase, the enrichment level was reduced to reflect the MMP change from 2900 psi to 3100 psi in 1/99 and 3300 psi in 11/99. Also in 1999, two jumpers were installed, allowing EOR expansion to DS 1 F (8199) and DS 2C (1 2/99). Another jumper is planned for 312000 that will allow EOR expansion to DS IQ, 30 and 3Q in 2Q00. The three new EOR drill sites are expected to take about 35 MMSCFD. IWAG During 1999 an average of 20 MMSCFD of WAG gas was injected into the IWAG drill sites of AF, IQ, 2C, 2D, 30, and 3Q. This was distributed to LSEOR drill sites (174 MMSCFD), SSEOR and SSEORX drill sites (75 MMSCFD) and Tarn drill sites (46 MMSCFD). Currently, MI is currently injected into 13 of the 18 drill sites including 3F, the CPF3 Expansion, sanctioned under the LSEOR project. This leaves 5 drill sites sanctioned under the LSEOR project that have yet to receive MI. An NGL pump upgrade was installed in March of 1999. The NGL pump upgrade would have increased the PBU NGL imports to 36 MBPD in 1999; however, due to the reservoir pressure increase, the enrichment level was reduced to reflect the MMP change from 2900 psi to 3100 psi in 1199 and 3300 psi in 11199. Also in 1999, two jumpers were installed, allowing EOR expansion to DS 1 F (8199) and DS 2C (12199). Another jumper is planned for 312000 that will allow EOR expansion to DS IQ, 30 and 3Q in 2Q00. The three new EOR drill sites are expected to take about 35 MMSCFD.
